Gypsy, until this subject in the haiku club challenge, I really never knew of paid attention to these little creatures. I like this because it tells us what is, first line and what it is doing, second line and your satori explains what it is doing. This is an excellent haiku my friend,,,,,,Jim

Now that is one big salamander! I had a pet salamander when I was a kid, it was a little red one. I mean little, about 3" long. Very cute.
I like your haiku, it is very good. They zip in and out of the water. They love to sun themselves and they also love the water. On the bike path, your satori is perfect!
Very clever and creative. My salamander looked just like this one only much, much smaller, lol.

That is so so cool, Lura. You have a very interesting life. Who has a pet salamander? Lu, that is who! hahaha

I don't have it anymore. It was when I was a kid. It ran away on me. That's when I realized they weren't meant to be kept as pets so I never got another one again. I just have never forgotten the little red guy. He was so cute.

awwww I wish I could see it. He sounds very cute.

Nice job on this one Gypsy - that little salamander on the bike path. I've been known to coax them off the trail, and once even ushered a tarantula out of the road in Big Sur. Your Satori line is perfect too. I have to say, I think the little salamanders are cuter than the giant ones!
Well done,
Carol

LOL - I KNEW someone was gonna use
"fish out of water" - and yet, somehow I was sure
it was gonna end up being a misguided senryu!
Instead - I get a perfect pairing!
I love the way your salamander is out of his element (water)
AND out of his element (on a bike path)! Nice "two birds with
one stone play ;-)
Bravo!

I love your picture. I think you have strong and clear imagery in the first two connecting lines that would stand alone without the picture. You satori strikes at the basic sesence of an amphibian and has a good aha moment - wekk done, my friend

Excellent work with this one. Perfect syllable count and lovely artistic presentation. I must be honest, when I think of salamanders always get the shivers. I find them ugly and scary and watching the video didn't change my mind. Thanks so much for sharing this with us.

That's a funny image - the salamander walking along the bike trail. But it speaks a bit too much to me of evolution, actually. I don't like it too much. Sorry.
--frowny face-- Just a personal thing. Nothing wrong with the haiku! Thanks!

I love those little things - salamanders. We even have them in Nebraska though we don't see them often. Great imagery and contrast satori (bike trail vs water).

Haikuist-Sensei has done the salamander an excellent service. They are good grilled or the little newts like sushi. The slime and grime add character to...Oh. You don't want to eat the big guy. You say he is endangered? Oh. Very nice challenge haiku. Forget the culinary view. It never happened. Grasshopper requests help: How do you, Haikuist-Sensei, yeah - that is you, get your links to work? Grasshopper hop all around trying different ways, but none work. Grasshopper asks if the next Haiku class is 301?
What a fun subject.

Haiku 301 mmm... that is a thought but my next class is back to HAIKU101 and then HAIKU201. After that I will do a HAIKU 301 just for you. :) I want to continue to expand my horizons as a haiku instructor and I have many ideas for future classes. I would really appreciate your feedback on what would be good. I respect your opinion. I was thinking a haiga class ... what do you think?

I'm in. Just say when. My review is Dean fault. He is wearing off on me. It's all his fault! LOL

Thank you. I am working to fix it. I noticed your Profile Thoughts pix is gone. Speak with you tomorrow.
