Hello Jaybird, how are you?
This is a terrific poem, I had several good laughs while reading it and I thank you for that. I've been writing poems for about 50 years now, it's a wonderful pastime.
I'm sure God knows that your just joking. I believe He knows everything that crosses our minds even before we do.
Take care of yourself, my friend...Bill

Wonderful poem, a very enjoyable read. I like to think our Heavenly Father has a sense of humor. Nature is full of great examples to support it anyway. ;)

Haha, I enjoyed this most amusing offering. It reminds me off the man whose doctor tells him if he wants to live out the year, he'll have to give up the drinking, the smoking and the debauchery, to which the man replies, "And you call that living?"
I wouldn't be worried about retribution if I were you ;-)
Great job,
Craig

Hello Jaybird, this is such a good poem and you make some very good points. But cling on like hell as long as you can LOL! Of course God knows you are joking. He'll have heard it all before. You have written a really amusing poem, well rhymed with good rhythm and I'm sure readers will all agree with your words - I do! Warm regards Dorothy x ps - Love your title - Saw the film by that name years ago!

God is intuitive that way... when we make a joke... no judgement, and I have to say that my cat is not a vanity or creature comfort... she is one of the great loves of my life... everything else I can trash freely... yours, diana

A light hearted poetic romp, Heaven or Hell. I think hell would be heaven for some and heaven would be an unbearable hell for others. Well written. Don and Vicki.

I love your wit and humor. The last lines did the surprise twist and I just love it. No wonder it reached the all time best status. Thanks for sharing this excellent poem.

Perhaps if you went to Heaven, you would not worry about mixing with different colours and creed, for if it is so that the good go to heaven, the good wouldn't have thought that a hinder, and would probably not got that entry ticket.
Said in jest.
I like the end line, directed at the humor.
Well done.
My best wishes.

Jaybird1, You write very well! I am impressed! Here you have written a poem of five free-verse quatrains with the second and fourth lines rhyming in each. Thus, the rhyme scheme is abab cdcd efef ghgh ijij. In the first four quatrains the syllabic count is 8-7-8-7. The last one varies only slightly: 7-7-8-7. What you say is very true. Lightheartedly you take jabs at the materialism, self-centeredness, sinfulness and incorrigibility of mankind. How can God be so forgiving? Yet, He is; He forgives all for those who have obedient faith in Him and Christ Jesus, His Son. Thank You for sharing and allowing me to review your work! tkbrown

Wondered where you were headed with this. You covered most of the stuff that humanity thinks it needs. There it all out there for God's assessment. Then at the last moment, twisted it , and got some room for a reprieve.
