This is a succinct chronicle of Ryan's journey. It is written with heart but how could it be otherwise when a mother writing about a son. His challenges are well described in a way that the reader can empathize.

Thank you so much for this review. I wanted to tell his story while keeping it a poem. He is doing very well with zero rejection so far and is working every day as a car salesman.
    We feel so blessed!

A very well-written contest entry. Your well-chosen words flowed line to line combining easily and forming the story of the poem. I think you completed the challenge of the contest very well. Good luck in the contest.

This poem, Ryan's Song, is a terrific capture of this cruel, depressing, yet life affirming story. What might have been a death sentence became a triumphant story of courage, endurance, and a new lease on life. Glad I read it.

it's always inspirational to hear stories like yours.
My wife was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. My children an I watched her failing breath for eight years. She was wheelchair bound with an oxygen tank when a lung became available.
four years later she's in the pool with our grandsons.
I hope only the best for your family.
thanks for sharing

Wow, I am so happy for her and your family. My son loves to hear these stories, and I am sure he would not mind you sending him a little story about it to him on Facebook, his name is Ryan Interlande. He and his wife have also recently become ambassadors for "Donate Life." Hopefully to promote more awareness on the subject for our area of Massachusetts.

    Life is good!

Thank you so much. Ryan continues to do well. He has to watch his weight. We are so hoping that he learns more of the donor and their story this year as we all feel it would also help with the mind, body and soul for his recovery. We can only hope and pray!

Hello, I am Thal1959 and I started the "Write a Poem of Length contest." I have really enjoyed your work, but I may have some bad news about it. There is no There is no specific and identifiable rhyme scheme. There are rhymes; some in consecutive lines, and some internal rhymes, but there is also some gaps where sentences bear no rhyme. Naturally, because of the varying length of lines, there is really no meter. Since I presume you viewed the work after you posted it, I must also presume its presentation was agreeable to you. But as it is presented, one can only count the physical number of lines, and this counts out to 54 which is less than the minimum required. Of lesser importance is the word, "fulwell" in:
"With humor he would endure, knowing fulwell his days were numbered, for sure." This should have been spelled "full-well."

I am truly sorry if the contest description was unclear or confusing. I gave this five stars because the work, whether it ends up qualifying for the contest or not, is a very interesting story of your personal experience with your son. Thanks for posting.

Aww geezo, I will have to be more careful of the instructions as I go forward with Fan Story in 2017. No problem, I had fun anyway.

I am, however, a bit confused as to how the voting booths work and if one can vote for their own work? Can you or someone higher up explain a bit more of this to me as I am somewhat of a Newbie.

    Thanks again,

Thank you for your gracious response and understanding. Generally, if a contest is offering a "members dollars" award, it will appear in the voting booth for members to read the works entered and cast a vote. So, yes, you can vote for your own work. If the contest is sponsored by FanStory and offers a $100 cash prize - there is no voting booth. The judging is done by the site's admins.

My only complaint is that for new people, it is confusing when booths are open as there is no indication that a booth is open, unless you are a participant. That means a lot of people who have not entered a particular contest may not be aware the voting booth is open. One needs to place the cursor over their "My" column on the bar above, and then select "booth" to see if any booths are active.
