I just read your beautiful tribute to your Mother. I was so touched. It reminded me of my "Mama" also.
Her picture is so precious, to me. Her face has "innocence" written all over it.
The poem structure was perfect as far as the rules, and I would classify it as a :Free Verse" poem.
My "Mama" was born on May 7th and went to Heaven in 1981. You are so fortunate you have that portrait of her I guess only rich people had cameras or able to go to a photo studio in her day.
Perhaps they are playing together up in Heaven and relating tales about us and having a wonderful time.
I love, respect and honor you, Portia.

Thanks my dear sweet angel for your review, six star rating and kind comment about my mom. I know you can still feel the pain in the loss of your mother. I believe the loss of one's mother is very deep, yet we know they are in a better place with the Lord.
Actually, we were very poor, it just so happened mom worked in a studio where people were getting their pictures taken and I imagine that is how she came across getting this one made.
I can imagine your mother and my mother smiling and looking down on the both of us saying, just look at those two whom God have put together; they are good for one another.
I know in my heart God brought us together for a reason. I have learn a great deal from you and we both know the real truth about what took place in the Garden of Eden.

It made me think of my mother's passing - you never really get used to being without your mother, but I think your faith is helping you. She was lucky, 91 years is a good innings and you had her with you a long time. I am sorry for the loss of your mother and you are right, being without ones mother is very hard but we must take comfort in knowing they are at peace and with our Lord and Savior. Thank you for your review and your support. I can truly say I know the pain and sorrow death brings and even the joy knowing the pain, suffering and hurt is over for our loved ones.
Losing your mother at a very young age of 65 years by the dreaded disease of Cancer; I can sense the closeness and bond you had with your mother. Again my friend, I am sorry for your loss.
Scriptures says "weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." This morning, for the first time, I looked in the mirror and smiled and I saw my mother, I sang her favorite song and I heard her voice. Our mothers live on in our hearts and in everything we do. The tears at times continue to flow and I know in time, God will wipe them all away.

While they have a strong, consistent rhyme and a great storyline--I haven't met you and yet I sense you are able to infuse a part of yourself in your writing. Grief is inevitable when a loved one dies but if we remember that they never leave us and are no watching over us from a happier place - it becomes easier to focus on the joy their life brought and allow the tears to slowly fade away. Thank you for your review and very kind words of comfort. I take comfort in knowing mom is at peace and lives on. She is only absent from the body and is now with Christ.
