A good play on words in this 5-7-5. Death shadows us but death is one step ahead of us. Quite a remarkable connection between these two statements. Nicely done. Marilyn

Hi Marilyn, Thanks you for your review and yes I suppose death is just a shadow that follows us until it catches up with us. Hopefully not for a long time. and we both have a great New Year hope you celebrations were fun. I had a very quiet NYE Cheers

I don't get this one. A shadow is usually behind. But, you know what ? I HAVE seen shadows that get in front of you, but that's when the sun is setting -- thinking out loud... aha! Nice!

Hello, my friend,
This is a very creepy 5/7/5 ... the way I like them... LOL
I like the picture. It sets the scene well.
With all due respect, I would change the font to make it all even, same font type and size, no bold. I would take the bold off and double space the lines.
Good job!!! I wish you well in the contest.

HI Mrs Happy Poet, I thank you for reading my 'Death' poem this came to mind when I was thinking about the subject and I am pleased you thought it well done Cheers for a brilliant new Year and see you again in 2017. Cheers

I like the philosophical feel of your Death poem. It reminds us that, although we don't know when or how we will die, we do know that time draws closer every moment.

This meets the contest requirements splendidly with correct line and syllable count. You deliver a very well executed description of death's constant shadow in this well penned piece. I wish you all the best in the voting and thank you very much for sharing it.

This 5-7-5 about death, Shadow Box, has the correct amount of syllables distributed correctly. The subject is one we ponder more as we near the sickle shadow. Nice poem.

Yeah, we don't need to make an appointment with death.
Death already has us in the schedule.
But, hey, no use worrying over things we can't change nor have any control over, right?
Just live each day as if it were your last because, let's face it...
...it might be.
Best wishes to you in the contest.

Hi Dean, You are not wrong there I an quite a fatalist and believe our lives are mapped out from conception it is just how we navigate the many paths we may take that can make a difference. But even so with so many choices the ones we make are the ones we were meant to make so I find this quite interesting. Our fears are in our head and once we can conquer them we can get moving along. Thanks for your review and support and many good Cheers for tonight (NYE where I live) or tomorrow night if that's the case.

I couldn't agree more.
I live in southeastern Ohio, in the US.
And I too am a fatalist, LOL.
Take care, and have a very Happy New Year!
~Dean :)
