Thank you, Robyn, for your review and condolences. The fire resulted in no wounded. Either you got out alive or you died inside. The fire moved too rapidly. The real wounded are the family and friends who have to live without their loved ones.

A well-written poem. I love the reference to Kharon. I am also glad you put in some information on him for the reader. I wrote a story awhile back using him and some other characters from mythology and no one knew what I was talking about.

A great poem with very good imagery. I can see the skiff loaded down with goods from far off lands. Included in the ship's hold are the souls of the dead.

Such a horrible tragedy...so many lives snuffed out far before their prime.
As for Charon, I know him all too well. I keep a gold coin in my pocket just in case. I believe in being prepared for the inevitable...the inescapable fate that awaits us all.

Yes, WriteSins!, given that the artists who lived in the warehouse named it Ghost Ship, and mourners left memorials that referenced lost treasures and shipwrecks, using the Kharon myth was a natural fit. Thank you for your review.

Yes, Mary, I work three miles from the Ghost Ship warehouse and know poets and storytellers who lost friends in it. I felt I had a duty to visit the memorial outside of the ruins and write something about it. It seems you had a lucky escape there. This is a fine piece of free verse that cries out against the senseless loss of so many creative souls.
