I liked this metaphor of Jesus rolling up his sleeve to help us out of the mire we got ourselves into. Ready to get dirty to make us clean over and over again.

Keep writing

Happy Thanksgiving.

Hi, thank you for your insight and encouragement. Like Paul, I was chief among sinners - but, praise God, I'm forgiven ... I'm saved!
    God bless and my best,

Relda Halbert

The descriptive words created wonderful impressions. Thoughts are expressed and described well. Understandable and thought provoking but especially insightful comments.

These lines do not rhyme. There is a rhyming dictionary on the net at rhymezone.com.

Amazing grace! Shout out good news!
God loves me! I know it's true!

Squeezed my hand and washed me clean.
Said, "It's done." Rolled down His sleeve.

Everything else was clean. Comprehensible and very nicely written.

I look forward to seeing you again.

Love you,

Oatmeal

Christy - Hi, I think I replied, before, to the 'stars' message notification. Things have been muddled for me - still dealing with my Bud's accident over the holidays. So, in case I missed doing so, let me thank you again for your lovely comments and encouragement.
    God bless and my best,

Janet - sorry to take so long to respond - traveled to OK City and back and my Bud had accident (fell, hit his head, no concussion but loss of some memory, some residual problems).
Your comments and encouragement are so welcome.

The last line made the poem, in my opinion. 'squeezed my hand and watched me clean, said, "it's done." Rolled down his sleeves. I like the deep blue background as well. Thank you for sharing.

Relda, I like your style of writing very much. This is a beautiful poem. It has all the ingredients I most enjoy... rhyme and meter, even slant rhyme, makes perfect sense and has the emotional component as well. I found my eyes growing moist as I read your tender and heartfelt words. Thank you for this lovely poem this Thanksgiving morning, and for reminding us we can all be grateful for what the Savior did for us. MM

This short piece has a great rhythm, and good rhyme in couplets going for it. The meter is unusual being in trochaic tetrameter apart from one line, "Amazing grace! Shout out good news!" This one is an iambic tetrameter having that initial unstressed syllable. trochaic meter is not easily written in English so this a an excellent effort.

"Nailed fast shut the door to hell?" I just want to say "Nailed shut fast the door to hell?" It seems more natural to me.

Hi, so good to hear from you again. I love to get your reviews because I learn so much from you - the 'meter' was accidental (it seems God inspires with poetic form in mind - when I listen to Him). Your comments and encouragement mean a lot to me.
    God bless and my best,

If I were you I would have a word to say with God about that one iambic line amongst the trochees. Ask him to do better next time. Lol.

Excellent reference.
I can imagine our Lord in heaven rolling up his sleeve and telling his Father. "It's time."
I like the way you mentioned that God could not look upon our sins, but the Son did and with his blood washes us clean.
