I loved the lilt and sound of this story, although I didn't understand its roots until I read the explanation. I have never read Dante, but maybe I'll give it a go now. Still it was a great poem. Good luck.

This is a very nicely written Terza Rima in this story poem. It
has very good rhyming, flows well, and word choices. I
don't know if this contest is over, but I wish you luck with this
great entry. Marilyn

A very well written story in a poem, my friend. I didn't realize this poetry form was as old as it is. I do enjoy this form and should write more tercets myself. Best wishes in the contest~Debbie

I enjoyed reading your contest entry. It's well written. I always like stories told in poems. That's not a talent I have. I wish you the best of luck.

A grim tale, indeed
but a tale well told in Terza Rima form
with very fine iambic tetrameter
Don't think I've ever seen coracle used here
but an excellent little craft it is
Dante would be quite pleased
with your infernally "short" poem
I'm sure he reserved a special place for traitors
in the lower circles
A very strong entry for the contest
Alas, I have no sixes left
but I offer you six best wishes
Well done, my friend

Well, Tony, there go my chances for a win in this contest. --sigh-- But that's all right. I don't mind losing to a poem with this kind of style and panache. *smile* Though some of the places seemed kind of 'off' to my ears, scansion-wise, none of it mattered enough to affect the story-line. It was superb reading and I highly enjoyed!

Wow this is quite an epic Tony in Terza Rima form. Very grahic descriptions us right their in the climb with him, and with the vulture watching, waiting. Great story and a great read. Good luck in the contest,
cheers,
valda

Many readers wouldn't know a coracle if they fell over one! Loved the verse: He grasped the rocks, his flight renewed, and climbed again with fevered hast. His safety lay in altitude." Great adventure story - good luck in the contest. Love, K.

p.s. I'm way behind with reviewing at the moment. I read your most recent Aboriginal Dreaming a couple of days ago, loved it, and hope to have some time for reviewing again before long!

I always love your work, Tony, but this one is exceptional, and reminds me of The Ancient Mariner. It is my favourite piece of writing of all time. I thought the tercets worked fine, especially the enjambment between lines or verses. Your rhyming as always is fascinating! Giddy :))

Gonna burn a six pack. Awesome write, bordering on epic. Inventive rhyme. I am nor sure that "mates" supports the classical bent, but maybe that's just the Aussie in me. Love the write. DJ
