I could see a bit of me in this great piece.
Growing up in tobacco country in southern Virginia, I took the opportunity to dip snuff and to sniff a pinch as well.

It was not that it was a matter of aristocracy but getting a chance to do what I saw some of the older folks around do.

As always,I love the styling.

Thank you Nottoway. Yes, certainly do get influenced by the older ones around us as we grow up. For me, it was cugarettes, cigars, and a pipe. Thanks for sharing. And for those many stars.

I don't use snuff or smoke, but allergies this season are causing me to sneeze and wheeze like the descriptions in your poem. I enjoyed all your "s's" and rhymes, plus the picture made me feel not alone! Smiles amid the snuffles- Joan

This is a wonderful poem filled with imagery of things most of us have experienced. My grandpa was a user of snuff and he and his mustache were often the star of every party. He followed your 7 x 2 to the letter.
I always enjoy the mechanics of your poetry. Once again, a lesson for me. I loved this double Pleiades and am going to experiment on one of my own, Thanks again.

I enjoyed your double Pleiades poem. It tells a great little story. All the lines begin as required. Love rhyme even when not required, so this is great. Perfect picture, too.

The modifications are great. I do not know what trochaic tetrameter is, but your lines had a nice flow. I enjoyed the great author notes.

Thanks for sharing. Jan

Hi Tom, I haven't seen you for a while. When I saw the title of your poem, I thought you'd been ill. I thought your Pleiades was excellent! Really well written and very humorous. Your author's notes, also were an excellent read, and now we know who to blame for the tobacco industry, Pope Benedict XIII for repealing the smoking ban that the very wise Pope Urban VIIl had created. Shame on him! Well done, Tom, I can always rely on a good read from you. :) Sandra xxx

The objective correlative of the poem is the terribly discomforting malaise caused by Rhinitis. The poem earns its texture through the use of alliteration and onomatopoeia. Excellent work!Bravo!

That'snuff of that. Lol. This is very ingenious of you. Tom. You haven't been around for a while. I hope that means busy or on holiday not an illness. I met a fellow morris dancer from another vside once who carried a small attache case. Inside was an amazing selection of snuff that he loved to share around.

Looks like you totally accomplished your goal. Quite impressive. I am going to have to try that sometime soon, I like the challenges. Also your rhyming the last line of the first Pleiades to the first line of the second made for the awkward task of coupled rhyming with seven lines a non issue. Very good.

A very well-written Pleiades that you doubled up with another one. Great innovation and a wonderful fun read. The practice of sniffing tobacco is luckily not done that much anymore. I liked the author notes on the sniffing as well.
