Interesting piece here, April. I am the cook in our house and I also can different things every fall. I have never tried Apple butter but it sounds delicious. I can tell it's a lot of work though unless you have a big family to help. Right? LOL...Good job on this writing, my friend. I like the way you ended the writing too. (with love)

Blessings. Bob

Thank you. Two of my sisters tried making a small batch last year on their stove. It still didn't taste like Dad's. The apple butter made over an open fire had a slight tang of smoke to it and there is the difference. Also, something about cooking it in a copper kettle makes a difference.

Thank you. Did your Mom make her apple butter like I describe here?

Apple butter, one of those rare treats many people any more have no idea what it even is.

The fun was not necessarily in processing the apple butter, but more in the good times the whole family had being together.

What a simpler time and place, and a much better one it was in the "old days".

Should make an interesting entry into this contest.

Thank you. I miss the good times we had in those days. People today have no clue of how different life was then.
