Love the Steinbeck quote - "The discipline of the written word punishes both stupidity and dishonesty." It is very apropos.
I'm guessing you are going for the humor aspect, here. This is a great spoof, meant to make the reader laugh. I do find it hysterical. You are giving advice to people on how to write, yet this is so riddled with errors (that you addressed in your author notes) that no one could possibly take this seriously. Nice job with this.

Ha, you are the first to see through my little mirage! Thank you for your wonderful insight, and the great rating! The Steinbeck quote was meant as a hint(Preview of coming attraction), but almost everyone missed it.

Sage words from you and your chosen authors of repute, Hemingway and Steinbeck. I couldn't help but draw a parallel between what you say and the way it applies to painters, too. We are, after all, painters in words. Details, highlights and colour all play their part.

Thank you! You are right and I believe it is much more difficult to render a thought and it's emotion onto canvas then using words to express the transition.
Thanks again, irishauthorme

you do a nice job of laying out the task at hand.
The quotes are well placed and add to the authenticity of your authority.
I think that the opening sentence begins with a nice hook, (you understand your audience here), but it becomes muddled with your introduction of the Steinbeck quote.
With a little editing, this can be very good.
Thanks for sharing

Thanks, you are right, direct quotes often influence and also can confuse. This is a learning experience for me, also.
It could also be termed an experiment.. And. did not my prediction come true?
