This is an incredibly heartbreaking story. I kept scrolling back up to make sure it was nonfiction. You think you know someone and then out of the blue, wham!
Your writing is clear and concise. You managed to keep overwhelming emotion out of the story, which I'm sure was difficult to do.
The only suggestion I have is to change the word capability to ability. He would have the 'ability' to do what he wanted.
Keep fighting for your own normalcy.

What a sad story. Mine is very similar, and the number of years is identical. You are a saint. To find this all out must have been devastating.

What a terrible thing to happen to anyone. After the years you spent with the man the terrible betrayal. You handled a lot better than I would have. I do not think i could have been so forgiving. I think I would have told him to go to his beloved little sue for help. My hats off to you. Well written and good luck in the contest.

It seems so sad, I don't know, nor can conceive how any relationship can be built on absenteeism, nor can I understand how you or the children managed to endure that treatment, for so long, it speaks more of your character to endure and the kids characters as well. Beautifully and sensitively written, how you kept forgiveness at the top of your list, is a great testament to love! Your story held me captive throughout, most enthralling and sad, well done great entry, good luck, blessings, Roy
