Sadly, that is the way it is.

Excellent poem about an old saying. This one holds a lot more truth than say the eyes are the windows to the soul. The pen does have a mighty reach much more than a sword and these days the Internet mobs can be mobilized by a few evil and thoughtless words muttered without thinking. But yes, the two definitely go together and it is interesting to see how the meaning has changed over time.

Much enjoyed this one Jay. :)

An interesting poem about this old quote but I think through your verses you show that both can bring trouble, even more so in these days of the Net where hatred and vitriol are spread so quickly.
Enjoyed this thought provoking poem.
cheers

Well written, so true. Good rhythm and yes, so true today. Instead of beautiful letters the sword has taken heads and continues to be the focus for religious wars etc. Bless you and Happy Christmas. XXK.

Beautifully crafted quatrains with ABCB rhymes. And your message is quite clear that even though eloquent words can move us or change us, unfortunately, it sometimes takes dreadful force to cause changes.

Hello Jaybird, this is a good poem and I have often wondered which is mightier as swords do make a lot of changes. I personally have come to the conclusion that both are powerful, but the written word lasts longer so we remember the writers rather than the fighters more as their legacy stays, but at the time, if push came to shove, I'd go for the sword rather than the pen, lol.

Thanks for sharing your poetry and have a great day, Anastasia.

Cheers, Yaybird;
> I enjoyed the fluidity of urine jamming as it flowed smoothly because of the rhyming words that were all contingent and supportive to the meaning and concept of each line.
> The food was also in the choice of the rhyming words even though some were near rhymes they were all very effective with understanding the conceptual theme.
> An excellent philosophical commentary that I truly enjoyed reading.

Hello Jaybrid1
I like how used the proverb The pen is mightier than the sword?
I found this quote that Edward George Bulwer by Lytton (1803-1873), an English novelist, who wrote this for the first time in 1839.
Meaning: You use this proverb to say that you can solve problems or achieve your purpose better and more effectively through communication with words than by violence with weapons. Gert

indeed, is it really the wars that are fought have been futile as pacifism has never raised its head. what makes decisions made by leaders the right to send our young ones to war as they never participate in it themselves.
thank you dear friend for sharing!
Blessings and a hearty hug!

I agree. The pen provides the fodder for thought
But the sword is what many only respond to hence wars nd rumors of wars
Well penned and well defended
God bless

Hi Jaybird, This is so true, they say the pen is mightier than the sword. It is true in that, today especially, the "pen" can reach many people at the same time and very quickly. The sword is much slower. The pen also keeps the record of what has happened, or hasn't as the case may be. However, we all know that the pen sometimes relies of stories passed from one to another before it reaches the pen. Often it's also tainted by the angle of the viewer. The pen is the power tool. The sword is just something it uses to accomplish it's goal. Susan
