Hi Shari! Never heard of a liger...the picture is really cool...would love to know what he's thinking. Lol
Entertaining can be stressful, especially whrn your options are limited. My mom stresses a little too when my brother's family comes for a visit. :-)

I enjoyed this very much. Being a slightly negative person myself, I feel asking Nichole's husband not to attend the family dinner is going to be the grounds for a major fight. Of course, I could be wrong and he just might be delighted not to spend more time with his in laws than necessary. I'll just have to wait and see.

Nicely written story and I look forward to the next episode. If just the four of you go out for dinner or if they will feel offense will be interesting. Handling situations like that are not always easy. I have heard of ligers but not tigon. I have never seen any but I think that was a great choice to take your daughter and Jeff for a days outing. It is hard for you to get close to your daughter with Jeff is in the picture, but try to make the best of it. Keep the stories coming!

Thanks for your insightful review regarding getting close to my daughter with Jeff around.

Big Cat Rescue in Tampa had a liger who passed on shortly after he was placed in the sanctuary. It is interesting that your daughter has such a good income and her husband can pursue the arts. They appear to be such different people.

I lived near Tampa for many years and never knew of a Big Cat rescue. How old was the liger when he died.
Nichole had dreams of marrying a rich man so that she could pursue the arts. How ironic is that!

I can't remember how old the liger was when he died, but I do not think he was nearly as old as many of the big cats who live well into old age there. It is worth a trip to go to Big Cat Rescue. They are on Easy Street and have tours and other programs at certain times. I usually visit them every year. Elaine

Shari,

I was very surprised your daughter expected to be entertained during her visit. Forgive me for being so bold, but that didn't strike me as a way to spend quality time with you and Frank; especially when she hasn't visited in a long time. I'm being bold again, but I think it is completely thoughtless of Nicole to expect you to bust your backside in searching out some kind of entertainment that she and Jeff might consider fun to do while visiting. Doesn't she realize that it takes everything you've got, just to get through the day, taking care of Frank and dealing with your own pain?

One of my students did a report on Ligers. It was the first time I'd ever heard of them. The student had pictures to go with the report. They were a beautiful animal, but their size was amazing, and scary.

No need to comment on the various aspects of your writing - stellar as usual.

I love your giving emotional reaction to this. That's as important as the writing. I didn't have pain when Nichole visited. That came later. But Frank's condition opened her eyes.

The Tigons are even more awesome to look at. Surprisingly they're smaller. The most known liger is named Hercules.

Thank you for boosting my morale with a six, Suzanne.

And you're so right about Nichole. Whenever we visited, she had something planned for every day. Nice when we had our health. And being on the move was her thing. Now, she's more content to sit home and just relax.

I hope your daughter realizes the state her father is in and tries to make visiting you guys a propriety. It's like she thinks you and your husband are going to live forever and she can see your every other year or so. Shake my head.

Thanks for the education on the Liger. I watch Animal Planet all the time( when they're not showing how to build pool shows which I still can't figure out the connection to animals)and they never talked or showed this animal. Amazing.

Her visit does make her aware of Frank's condition. Whether she'll try to visit again in a year is hard to say.

Interesting about AP. I've watched some of it when channel surfing.

Hi Shari,

I've really got attached to the story. You tell it with warmth and it's not boring (as might often be expected of biographical writings).

I recently learned about ligers. They cannot reproduce, though, right?

The fear of flying must keep Nichole from experiencing the great wide world around her. She's missing out on so much. Pity.

As for Jeff ... no comment! :)

Love,

Sonali xx

Glad to hear that you're hooked, although I'm close to the end. Nichole did fly to Spain but clung to Jeff the whole time.
As for ligers, I read that they can reproduce. Umm, wonder if that how dinosaurs came into existence?

Hi, Shari

= Whoa, you go. I hope the dinner for four goes off without a hitch.
= What makes me think that WON'T happen??
= Hurry up and post what happens. (*<*)
= I love Frank's response, "Only one way to find out".

= So sorry I'm so late in responding.
= I've been on vacation, had a GREAT time, but exhausted.
= However, nothing 24-hrs worth of sleep won't cure. (*>*)

Vacation. What a great word. I'd love to get away for three days at the beach, but don't want Frank driving that far-- and he insists at being in control of the wheel. Umm, maybe he and Jeff have something in common after all.

Haaaa, love the price especially the bleach.

Holy crow half a ton? That's a huge cat. I've heard of ligers and tigons but never actually seen them.

Hmmmm and interesting proposition to go without Jeff. That always gets to be a rough decision.

Anyway an always exciting adventure, Shari. :))

Thanks, Gloria. I found a picture of a tigon on the internet. Has a lion's mane but its body is smaller than that of a liger.
    Thanks for reading.

I am curious how this visit will turn out. It has the makings of disaster written all over it. Such a shame. You do your best and be satisfied with that.
As always, you shared interesting information in this post. I'd never heard of a liger or a tigon.
Thanks for sharing another chapter.

I did research on this and found it fascinating. Wanted to do more on it, but have to stick to the story line.
I look forward to writing about the visit.
