I don't think I've actually gone over to the "dark" side Dean, but I have come to love and appreciate the macabre - well your macabre. As I read the creepy genre that has become synonymous with you, I thought of Edger and the "Raven". You are in a class with the best. Your creepy-scary poems are also eloquent and so easily understood.

Well done my friend.

Blessings
Janet

"Keep it simple, stupid." That's what a well-known author once told me, Janet.
He would know far better than I what works and what doesn't, so I took his well intentioned advice to heart, and I've been "simple" ever since, heh-heh.
Thanks for reading, and for the six.
I do appreciate it, as always.

DK,

I enjoyed this poem very much. Reading it was a pleasure. The flow was smooth. The theme well thought out. Emotional reflections are insightful and impressive.

I saw no SPAG and no typos. Everything looked in place.

Telling things very plain and comprehensible.

I look forward to seeing you again.

Love you,

Oatmeal

I absolutely love the cant of your chant, Dean. ;)
It has such a lovely rhythm which speaks of Poe.
It has me rocking, reeling with a strange, foreboding feeling. ;)
I just love it.
A well told tale of macabre, as only the master of disaster can tell the tale.
Well done, I loved it
Cat

In the beginning of this poem the visitor encounters what he believes to be a quaint little village full of a peaceful existence.

By the end of the poem he has contracted a malady and becomes just like the townspeople he is trying to avoid.

Perhaps he should have accepted the leper's offer of assistance and the rest of his problems would have been avoidable.

Moral of the story could well be not everything is as it appears on the surface to be.

In the form and flow of Poe's Raven, still the best ever written.
Excellent story and the unique flow and style is absolutely the best for this story using the repetition to make certain places very strong.

I am always excited to read your poetry always accompanied by insanely awesome artwork. This is no exception, King Kuch. Everything works here, the moral, the language, the macabre scene you set in words! I hope you include this piece in your book!

Dean, I am seriously without words. It is such an honor to read your work - I kid you not. In fact, the timing for me, right at this moment, has reduced me to tears for the talent you exhibit. (Some people do not deserve to be treated to it. More in an email.)

Perfectly horrific. You brought Edgar Allen Poe to mind here. This was an elegantly written horror story. You mastered the language here. Seriously, darkly beautiful.

once again you have delivered a jaw-dropping tale in words so eloquent and creepy, (is there such a combination?) that i always need to read them over a couple of times to be sure i got the meaning clearly... and i enjoy each one when i see... i did, and do. and always with a shiver to delight. excellent...thankyou Dean Kuch. i know i dont review as often as i should but i am glad i perused the list today.

Yes, there most assuredly is such a combination, okanaganbell. At least I believe there can be both.
Let's take Poe's work for example. Eloquent, immensely, sad and so rife with rich emotion.
There is beauty in darkness. I know because when night is at its peak, the stars shine so brightly.
Thank you very much for dropping by to give this a go, and for your kind and generous six stars as as well.
I deeply appreciate you doing so.
