A well written 2-10-2 poem contest entry. I think you completed the challenge of this contest well. Your choice of artwork and background color completes the piece nicely.

Hi mystery author,

I get an image of an old baby doll when I read this. I can't imagine a real live baby being banned to the attic. Maybe I'm missing the point here? It wouldn't be my first time not getting the obvious.

Best wishes in the contest.

Joy: thank you for reading. This is a metaphor of how quickly goes our lives. I recently moved in with a few friends from my church in this big old house. My bedroom is on the second floor which has slanted ceiling. I immediately thought of the VCAndrew book series of "Flowers in the Attic" and had quite a chuckle. The book begins with three children banned to the attic so their rich grandmother doesn't know they exist. A mixture of thoughts put together this piece. I tied for second place and won a whopping $6.88! I'm so proud this morning! LOL Linda

A delineation of life in a Dandelion from a beautiful flower to a purveyor of immortality seen in the wafting of its seeds by the wind. Good luck in the contest

This is a rather sorrowful piece of poetry dear anonymous! It kind of reminds me of psycho at least the last line.
Thank you for sharing!
Good luck!
Blessings!

A weird syllable count of 2-10-2 for this writing prompt. I think the poet did an excellent job here of creating a poem with a depth of feeling in such a short poetic form. Life and death, how fickle the hold on life is, all wonderfully portrayed in such a short poem. The picture is a perfect accompaniment for the poem and it's as if the poem's author took the picture themselves to perfectly accompany the poem. An excellent contest entry, good luck.

HAREEDS: I spent more time searching for that picture than I did writing the poem! Tied for second place in the contest and won a whopping $6.88! I'm SO proud! LOLOL Linda

yikes! Reminds me of "Children in the Attic" or whatever that series of books was called. I love the alliteration of the b's... but, blasted, why the baby gotta be banned? lol ;)
Well done, and great luck to you in the contest

Cat: Thank you for reading. I recently moved and my bedroom in a large house in on the second floor with slanted ceiling. I'm only 5'2" tall so it is no problem. But, I thought about that "Flowers in the Attic" series and began laughing at myself and so came this poem. It is leaving many people confused and concerned about the 'baby'. No worry . . . I am the only one up here except for the two teenagers in the other two bedrooms. Anyway, I tied for second place and won $6.88! I am so proud! LOLOL Linda

I do hope we talking about flowers and not an infant: joy gone after months arrival: placed in attic. Which ever I found interests in this thought learning more about proper written expressed views.

Aww, that is so sad. I see this as a metaphor of us growing old and being discarded, which many elderly people are. It's sad and also frightening. Excellent 2-10-2 contest entry, and the picture is well chosen. Good luck in the contest! :) Sandra xxx

Sandra: at last! Someone who 'got it'! Some people have been uncomfortable because they thought the poem was about banning a baby to the attic! I tied for second place and won a gigantic $6.88! I'm so proud this morning! LOLOL Linda

I have to laugh too, did they not read it properly? The last line gives it away perfectly. It should have won. But congrats on 2nd place. :)

Excellent 2-10-2 describing the cycle of life. How descriptive and true your words for many. The artwork was apropos showing the many phases of a flower and the analogy you give relating to a persons life.
