Good evening Jaybird, I really thought that your poem, On The Backroad, was interesting and insightful. I too think that the flowers, roses or not, will smell just as pretty on the backroads than the ones you find in the flower shops. Likely they will last twice as long too. I suspect that's the same way with 'backroad' friendships as well.

Love this...it has wisdom and advice we all can use. Go slow, don't force yourself into corners. Life will always be there and it is a shame to miss the fine little things along the way. There are always folks who need a hand...need a kind word, or a coin for food. What we do for others comes to us seven-fold-seven. Glad you brought this back so I didn't miss it.

Jaybird, I am impressed! This is some outstanding poetry. I liked everything about it. Particularly this stanza however:
"gh in the sky, a star shone bright
and showed the way that fateful night.
Wise men brought gifts, prayed with delight,
Angels sang, praised this wondrous sight."

Lovely. A very easy read with a very profound message. Life is not a race where the accumulation of possessions is the measure of "success": we are dead a L O N G time and we should make the most of right now...
In passing, the text "...fortunes fame..." I am uncertain about. It may be you mean "...fortunes, fame..." or perhaps "...fortune's fame..."? Sorry if I have misread you...
I wish you well with your further writing. This is gentle, exact and heartfelt.
