Sandra, I enjoyed your lovely interpretation of how the setting sun's golden rays bring a restive, and tranquil end to one's day. "A hush occurs as all the birds tuck heads beneath their wings then soothed to sleep by gentle serenades the evening brings."

Gosh, thank you so very much, Patricia, for those lovely 6 stars and wonderful review! I love that time of day, when I saw the picture it just spoke to me. I'm so pleased you enjoyed it, my friend. :) Sandra xxx

I always prefer the title and author not to be included in the poem's main body, Sandra, as I find it distracting, and I often start to read thinking it's part of the poem. Anyway, that's my 'miserable old man' gripe of the day. ;-)

Oh, hang on - something else. LOL. I think lines, 3,6, 9, 12 could be at least halved in length (with the other half remaining but making a new line), to allow the reader to pause and ponder more.

Anyway, you convey excellent imagery of the beautiful sunset, trees and birds, in this very peaceful and entertaining free verse.

Cheers, Ray xx

Thank you, Ray. I do love your miserable old man reviews, you tell it as you see it, LOL. I have halved them now. In fact that was how it was but one line, 6 couldn't be split into the 8-6 syllables, so that line I've kept as it was. (It's different!!) Thanks again, my friend! :) Sandra xxx

    Thanks, Sandra.

D'OH! - I missed the rhymes and meter completely and read it as free verse. Please ignore me on this occasion and accept my apology, my friend. Ray xx

Loved the vivid and varied descriptions used for this daily phenomenon. I especially liked, "As the trees receive the day's last glow, upon their leaves of green." Like a painting all it's own.

Thank you so much, my friend. I do enjoy the evenings, when the sun goes down and the 'night-life' wakes up. I'm glad you enjoyed it, and a big thank you for the lovely six stars! :) Sandra xxx

You painted a lovely word picture to match the beautiful photo. Mother nature performs a gentle ritual as she puts us all to bed.

A splendid response to the photo prompt, Sandra.
You manage to stretch the particular moment,
and interpret its signal to the natural world.
The sunset is just for us to admire.
It's a marker for all of nature to interpret.
Outstanding alliteration in the beginning.
The section on the birds spoke to me especially.

Someday, you may wish to write the mirror image.
All the life that comes to life with the setting of the sun.

Peace, Lee

Thank you my wonderful friend. I had started to do that with this one, and then thought I'd leave it for a while. Then you wrote that. I tell you, two great minds, and all that! I'll do it now you've said it. Do you like sloppy kisses?? Sending you another for the 6 stars, and a humongous hug! Thanks, Lee. :) Sandra. xxx

    Slop away! I love it.

But you might be right to give the other side of the coin a chance to gestate.

I'm an early riser. I've got three feral cats, skunks, 'possums, raccoons, foxes screaming for breakfast outside my door at 3 a.m. every morning. I can't step outside in the dark for fear of stepping on Pepe LePew!

I dig the songs nature plays on the flip side.

Pepe le Pew! LOL. My cat is a feral, and although she is scared of people, she cuddles up with me and gives me such loving looks. I love the wild animals, they are far more real, for want of a better word. I'll write that poem, sometime over the next few days. I've been a bit lazy with my poetry lately, so now I have something to get me going again. That deserves another sloppy one! :)

All set for a pleasant night on your planet then. I actually like the way you have broken your favourite heptametric meter down. It gives the poem a refreshingly different look from the serried ranks of heptametric quatrains, without actually having to change anything you want to say. Clever little ploy really.

I remembered what you said last time, and then I noticed I done it again! LOL, I thought I'd fox you, but you saw through my ruse. I am going to try to write a Lyricat, I liked your Welsh version so much, it has given me the push I needed. Well, that and what you said. LOL. Thanks Jim. Yes, my planet is far sweeter than the story ones you and others have found in the picture. So, when the storm is over, or before it comes, pop over to my world! Big hugs my friend. :) Sandra xx
