This is a unique and fun story, a great entry for the contest. Surely held this reader's interest throughout. I doubt there will be a "pet rescue group" for cockroaches, though. Still smiling. Marilyn

This was so sweet!
But most females are detestes by any insect except butterfly.
If this is a true story
why a Cock Roach?
Maybe a cricket?
But...
"With Imagination a Dream can become reality..

A very well-written pet story. The cockroach is a very old species that survived many natural disasters. You are lucky to have Harriet as an amazing pet willing to live in a bowl and see her family only once in a while.

And how long had you not slept when you wrote this. haha
Great pet story, but I think Harriet would consider herself a roommate.
Love the terms you managed to use: bug-eyed; all doctors treat bugs; jitter bugging.
Like all guests, the roaches wanted to over stay their welcome after the birthday party. (Loved that)
I glad none of the guest died from diatomaceous earth poisoning.(That's powerful stuff.)
Great story. I didn't see anything to correct, Dawn.
Good luck in the contest with this highly creative entry.

You're making me giggle - you're bad! (How did you guess I was sleep-deprived? LOL) Hahahahaha - you missed,"bug-eyed over boys"! Hahahahahaha! Thanks, Ellen - glad you enjoyed. :))
-
Picky, picky.I said 'bug-eyed'. Just didn't add 'over boys'. haha
How did I know you were sleep deprived?
Because no one can make Harriet and a roach party seem so real and be totally lucid. haha
I'm still seeing it. And I hate roaches.
Now, when it comes to wolf spiders and lizards, I'm right there.

HAHAHAHA! oops. XXOO

An excellent little story, about Harriet the cockroach, whom the vet wouldn't consult with because he didn't deal with "bugs" heh, heh. I reckon it could have been used as a young adults. I once once more highlights your considerable ability as a writer, Dawn. Just exceptional, blessings, Roy

LOL. I can't believe this story. I also can't believe ANYBODY would have a cockroach for a pet. I would also like to know how one would know if a cockroach has an infection. Anyway, it did make for a fantastic contest entry. Good luck.

HAhahahahaha! I guess that's rather the point, isn't it? Not all fiction is SUPPOSED to sound real. Hahahahahaha! FanStory can be great in many ways, but it can also hold a writer back (being on a vanity site). It's why most publishers don't want to hear a writer has been on one. Of COURSE you can't tell if a cockroach has a cold, nor would you keep one for a pet, much less have a birthday party for it! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
I'm glad you liked it my friend.
