Your story definitely gave me a laugh! I'm so glad you told me to read it. I liked the part about all doctors treating bugs. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

This is a delightful, tongue-in-cheek, fabrication. At least, I doubt you ever owned a smart cockroach, I've had many cockroaches as temporary residents,, but none ever wanted to stay around after the spray. No way to treat a pet, Good luck in the contest.

LOL - no I never owned a smart one, but I sure have seen more of them than I'd like! LOL - yes, that's a terrible way to treat one's pet! Hahahahaha.

    Thanks very much.

This is hilarious. You have quite an imagination. I especially liked the part about the cockroach birthday party. How long do those things live?

I had a little laugh at this one, a cockroach for a pet. How novel.

This is most most inventive and, ~I LOVE IT~

You describe how you feed and look after your Harriet. And as for going to the vet with one of these, well... LOL.

You deserve to win. Nicely written and most creative. Good luck with Harriet in the contest...

Good luck. Sometimes you feel confident and enjoy a creation. I have that with 'Necrospirella etc etc.' My latest contest entry for the horror contest. But in the cold light of day, I must awake, and glimpse reality. LOL. ~Mel~

LOL - ummmm, errrrrr...I suppose I should not worry, but these things DO happen - not YOUR little worms perhaps, but...(LOL) you happened on a fear that I am positive will resonate with MOST! (YIKES!)

A few cliches sprinkle this piece, and it's all telling rather than showing - that's not so important in a short story, though - but I like your inventive approach. A cockroach? For a pet? The very idea brought a smile to my face.

Of course, I do take Harriet out of her bowl sometimes--even cockroaches need exercise. But I always supervise. - Lovely couple of sentences. These widened my smile.

Harriet's friends and family were jitter-bugging all over the place. Her uncle owns a cockroach band - Ha, ha!

And Prissy is a different cat since that party--a little stand-offish. - As if cats weren't stand-offish to start with ;-)

Mind you, you will have to wash the dishes afterwards anyway, but hey, it beats wasting food. - A great concluding sentence.

I enjoyed reading this. Thank you. Good luck in the competition.

LOL - yes, it is telling, and that's okay - I've written more than one that's pure dialogue - LOL. It all depends, yes? I'm so glad you liked it. I had a ball writing it. (Oh, and I LOVE cliches, as horrifying as they CAN be when used by inexperienced writers. But in humor or satire, sometimes they just work, don't you agree? Hahahahaha!)

What a great review! You've been so kind, and made me smile big-time. Thank you very much.

Yes, cliches can definitely work in humor and satire. When I employ them in this role, I try to put a twist on them, maybe slightly mis-quoting, especially so for satire ;-)

A cockroach in the band is worth two in the bush ;-)

Haha! Welcome to Harriet's apartment, LOL! Very cute and creative story with a refreshing lack of SPAG. Thank you! You should have a good chance in the contest.

What a cool little story, I love the use of bug related expressions. I had a nice giggle over that one. Very well written, and very satisfying in spite of the short length. Good luck for the competition!

This is hilarious, if I hadn't been invigilating an exam I would have laughed out loud. But I wouldn't like to have a cockroach as a pet, that's for sure.
Good luck in the competition.

Now why wouldn't you want a cockroach for a pet after all the nice things I told you about Harriet? (LOL!!!)

What a kind and generous review - thank you - I'm so pleased you liked it!
