Simply put this is an exceptional poem. The photo and the background color make for a beautiful presentation. This is a very clever and creative poem with great rhyming and imagery. The syllable count is really consistent throughout which makes the poem flow effortlessly. Simply put, a really nice job. Best of luck in the contest.

Many a good poem comes from just the right scene or image. The pain of a relationship that failed because of the other's deceit likely exceeds that from any thorns in those rose stems. Yet the reality of the roses' fragrance rightly prompts arising with renewed hope of finding a truer partner. Well done.

Very nice, Portia.
Your Love Poem Contest entry is very expressive, well rhymed, and the a,b,a,b rhyme scheme created an excellent cadence and flow when read aloud.
It's a bit melancholy, sure. But what romance isn't? Besides, they never promised us a rose garden. Along with the sunshine, there's gotta be a little rain sometime.
