Excellent. My husband and I watch this stuff every day and it seems like you caught it all in this poem. I love the artwork. LOL I didn't spot any errors. Goodwork.

A very well-written poem and great information in your author notes. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. A hard choice to make. Still depends in who will keep their word.

Thank you for your review of this poem, Sandra. Bigger than who keeps his/her word, the Supreme Court appointees rides on who wins. Whatever decision is made by the voters for prez, the country's laws will be governed for generations by the SC judges. That's why the election is so important.

I am not an American, but up until reading this, taking in your authors notes as well, I've gone from thinking America is in big trouble with these two president hopefuls. Out of the two, I now lean in Trumps favour. I'm glad I am not in your shoes when it comes to putting that little x in the box. This was a really good entry to the contest, well done. Good luck! xsx Sandra

Hi Sandra. Thank you for your fine review of my poem. Yes, this election is crucial here in the States. It will determine the entire direction the country will take for several generations because several of the Supreme Court justices are aged and the new president will make his pick--either liberal or conservative. The Supreme Court justices are selected by the president in power at the time. Congress has to approve his/her pick, but most times prez's pick gets appointed. The balance/imbalance of the Supreme Court will have a big impact on rulings of our laws. Both candidates have very different views on important matters. I don't know when our country has been so divided. Scary stuff. Marilyn

Great facts. The corporations need to pay, not get breaks. When companies get breaks, they have large parties, fly in people to see their product. Yet, the worker bee gets no free food. When business is slow, they lay off the worker bees. We have farm manufacturers here. They have tax break. The bosses live out of town and shop out of town - no $ in our town. Then, the grocery store gets hit and my husband and others get $ less. So, no tax breaks for corporations.

College kids should have perks. The apartment costs are about $500-700/month and then there is food cost. College kids need breaks and they can help the community as pay back. My daughter did this and enjoyed the community services. Encourage people, build the country up. Yes, vote. Thanks for the facts.

Hi Nancy. Thank you for your review. My husband and I shake our heads and say, "Wow--we missed the boat." When our kids went to college we had to take out loans and pay tuition for them. Our kids worked like dogs, as did I going back to school when married with kids and working full time to afford to pay tuition. You have to remember that one way or the other we will all pay for everyone's kids to go to college, including non-citizens. The money has to come from someplace. Even though perks are touted as free--they are not.

Regarding business, been in that, too. Owners of small business (not corporations) will go without paying themselves in order to keep the lights on and the doors open but they have to pay their help. They are the people who offer jobs to others. Tax breaks would be a one time incentive to entice businesses back to America. America has the highest business tax rate in the world--so they left to set up shop elsewhere. If these businesses come back due to a tax break, it will create thousands of jobs here in the States. Keep in mind--even though stuff is touted as free--there is no such thing. The buck stops with the American taxpayer and believe me, the government doesn't give a darn how they spend it.

Good points. The grocery store owner can buy more stores when business is good. When bad, they take wages from the workers. There is high health insurance. They go on fishing trips and get kick backs from chip companies. There are points on both sides. We can vote and help one another. flylikeaneagle Again, thank you for the info.

At this point in time, businesses have NO control over health insurance since Obamacare. Deductibles are off the charts and will go even higher this fall. That's also why businesses don't hire more than 50 people (if possible) because they cannot afford the insurance for them. Under 50 employees they don't have to have it.

I appreciate your facts. My husband pays 24 percent of income for insurance. Yes, life is expensive. Chat anytime. flylikeaneagle

The middle class is in a huge squeeze. Obamacare will be revised by whoever gets in because it cannot sustain itself. It costs a fortune and deductibles are so high people can't go to the doctor and this fall rates will get a huge hike. Obama is trying to delay the hike until after the election. Insurance companies are pulling out. The gov is not altruistic. We would love to think so, but it's not. The citizen gets lost in the shuffle. To keep the whole ball of wax rolling, we have to buy into the con. So far we're losing.

You did a great job with your 'rant.' Thanks for giving both 'equal time'. Good job on the rhyme & I saw not problem with the punctuation. Perfect picture. Thanks for the author notes. They are very informative to any who have not kept up with the dog & pony show.

Our choices in November:

the crook the clown my cat [write-in]

Good job & thanks for sharing. Best wishes in the contest. Jan

Thank you, Janny, for reviewing my poem. Yes, intended to be informative--maybe. Some are vehement about party vote, but don't pay attention to what they are voting for. For those people, it wouldn't matter anyway.

Way too much in the notes as your diatribe should stand on its own. I thought this a great entry and you did an excellent job of keeping the tone, meter, and rhyme consistent throughout. I did read all the notes, not because I am a news junkie (it is always tainted by the flavor delivering it), but because I was interested in what was driving you through the piece. I wish you all the best in the voting and thank you very much for sharing it.

Thank you for your review, Mystic. Reading the notes is optional. Political writes are always a challenge and my intent was to poke fun at both. We all have differing points of view and it's okay.

I usually have a great sense of humor but when I think about the next four years .... it escapes me.

No worries. I think every U.S. citizen feels exactly the same as you do. We are in an awful mess. We need divine intervention to straighten it out.

You have managed to put together quite a political poem here; one that is loaded with information for the non-informed voter with the litany of issues at hand and positions of the candidates. A great entry for the contest and I wish you the best! I am a news junkie as well, but i had to turn it off a few weeks ago for my own mental health. 350 million people in this country, and these two are the best we can come up with for president???

I agree with you wholeheartedly, Mary. Our country is in deep trouble. Thank God you are a news junkie, too. We need 350 million more of them. People are so uninformed, it's frightening. I appreciate your great review.

I got "this far", and in fact, I read every single word in your author's notes.
I also read your poem and found a lot of truisms to it and felt it was rather funny.
Regardless of what I think, it will matter what the voters in the contest thinks that truly matters.
Best of luck.

That's the truth of it, Dean. Regardless of a person's point of view, he/she is entitled to it. There are too many who want it for themselves but unwilling to allow others to have theirs. I appreciate your review and comments.

I agree with your poem completely. We need change! Hillary will NOT bring change. Whether you like Trump or not...we cannot allow Hillary to be in charge of our Nation. Very well done in word, rhyme and message. Wonderful picture to enhance your poem. I loved it!
