This is a nicely rhymed poem. Very refreshing to read as here I sit in 95 degree weather. The description of the ice sckating is especially nostalgic. Great job!

Ice is so important in our lives. Not only keeps us cool, but many sports are played on the ice as well. Lovely picture and words of wisdom for the age of
ice in our lives. Thank you for sharing.

I commend you for choosing such a vital,
yet overlooked element in our everyday
lives.
I'm not sure what 'cracking the whip' refers to.
Something to do with ice skating? Hockey?
But I get the washtub and the fan.
Early AC.
Best of luck.
Peace, Lee

Thanks for the read and the comments. Cracking the whip refers to people holding hands and racing around the ice. The last person is whipped and he skates free circling the ice at high speed.

Ah, yes! Now I remember. It's been that long since I've dared the ice. Thank you. L

You are welcome. Me too, no ankles for it any longer.
