You again show your mastery of the poetic craft by you flawless execution of a complicated formal poetic structure, the Terzanelle. The rhyme scheme is very complicated but appears to be followed well. The mixture of structures appears to work with an interesting visual effect. The flow is good even with the mixed meter.

I love the theme of this poem having spent many years trying to identify our often quite flashy and noisy Australian birds. I would have guess a wader, maybe even heron as it made me think of Nankeen Heron; but green heron is new to me. Very clever poetry too, far above my comment. Thanks for the adventure. Maureen*&*

I love the theme of this poem having spent many years trying to identify our often quite flashy and noisy Australian birds. Judging by the complexity of this little piece I had no reason to worry about you yesterday. But I did. Anyway, that was then this is now and it is great fun, and quite complex in structure.
It is easy to see from the long photo on the right and the bottom one on the left why you though this fellow was a road runner. I have rever seen one in the feathers but I recognized him from the cartoon. Top left and he's a drab version of the kingfisher but middle left has him obviously as a member of the heron family. I thenk we tend to pick on one identifying feature and if that isn't apparent we're stuck.

Thank you Pantygynt, yes, you captured the essence of my thoughts perfectly. To me, watching birds means to capture its photograph so it can be studied in detail. I marvel at those who go out for a walk with binoculars and say the saw 52 species on that walk. Hmm. There are so many little brown or yellow birds flitting by, I can't tell one from another. They must be guessing.

I thought the bird might be a heron, but it certainly looks different in each of your shots. Your mixed meter in the poem seems to parallel these shifts. I admired your title, plus your play on "birds of a feather" and your rhymes. Cheers- Joan

is interesting with his fluffy feathers on top. The angles are different. I like the black and white stripes, and long legs. He must have walked like a road runner. They are in the Texas area in woods. I enjoyed the loons on Lake of the Isles, especially when the sun was going down.
As far as your talent in the poem, great rhymes and repeats. Birds of a feather flock together, my husband told me this when we first met at Cedrics clothing store years ago. Must be something in our eyes? Great poem!
Please pray for the Mpls. missionaries that were on the way to Littleton, Colorado. A trucker hit and killed five of the family. The rest of the family was at the Okoboji Bible Conference, Iowa, this week.
