And that's the way it goes. Here today, gone tomorrow. C'est la vie (et la mort). But, try to stick around for a while anyway, Jay. You might have a few more good poems left in there.

Cheers,

Don

Sweet loving the way writer plays fiddle as one is rushed to hell hole. Strong will illustrated ready again to face the challenge. I found this write although remorseful soothing in presentation. All in my opinion of this write.

Yeah, I'm not too far from the person in the poem. I'm of the mind,

Do not go gentle into that good night
Dylan Thomas, 1914 - 1953

"Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light."

I wish you well.

Hi Jaybird, Glad to here you are not planning to leave yet. your poem is lovely and when I read your work it reminds me of how my father wrote all his life( He passed at 88 but loved to write and I have all of his poetry to remind me of his great poetic skill and advice . At 93 I am in awe of your passion to still write . Cheers Christine

I have always admired poets that tackle sonnets and especially those poems and poets that make sense. Well done and I can tell that you put effort into this one.

I will be happy and fulfilled person if I can say the same words before departing from this world. Indeed, life is not one's own. Thank you deeply for sharing.

We sometimes wonder what to say or do when the time comes and what will we leave behind for others to remember us by. So my bit of knowledge I leave for you is make as many memories as you can so they will be happy ones when every you do go.

This is excellent. You echo the song of Brooks and Dunn.
I can't quote the book
The chapter or the verse
But you can't tell me it all ends in a slow ride in a hearse

This work has reached the exceptional level

this is an excellent example of 'comfort' poetry, I know how hard it is to write these. to look at a life at its end and not get blubbery, rather be positive and grateful. you have done a stellar job of this, Jaybird. clearly 6six6 worthy.....................meeshu
