I absolutely loved this. I never saw the ending coming. You did an amazing job with those few words. I especially loved the refrences to Gilligan's Island. Mary

Thanks a million, Mary. Wow, what a super review. Yeah, I know the song, both versions, from front to back. LOL

Awesome piece of flash fiction my friend. I have missed your work as well as many others during my lengthy time away. Damn floods hit me twice and the last time did 50,000 dollars damage to my home. Did I mention I had no flood insurance lol. I am currently residing at my parents home for an undetermined length of time. Will certainly make for interesting writing.
God bless!
Steve

Wow. That's just a drag, Steve. Our business was burglarized years ago and we couldn't afford the insurance. So a similar deal for us. It worked out in time and I'm sure it will for you. Good to see you back though. It's been a LOOONG time. Glad you enjoyed this. Check out the new "Challenges Forum" in the forum section. This is a weekly challenge we're doing on our own for fun. There's a poetry one too. You're invited. Thanks for the great review. mikey

Well at least the couple didn't steal anything small ...
Your early explanation set the ending up perfectly. (Steal something big. I get it. But something small? C'mon!)
I'd be pissed if Cleavon had my comics, too.
Great imagery. I pictured 'the happy crew's' island. Too bad Gilligan's not there.
I didn't expect the end where he will more than likely die, too. He didn't expect it either. haha

After last week, I needed one that just spilled right out of my brain. This one did which is supposed to happen in these rapid fire things. LOL
So pleased you enjoyed. Thanks a million and for the six too even though we're not supposed to get them. HA!!! mikey
reply by barkingdog on 04-Jul-2016
Oops. The six was so automatic. I totally forgot.
I also forgot to put my entry on the thread so missed being on the click list.
I should write about being forgetful, but I'll probably forget. :) e

Put it on the list. Susanne will add you if not tonight, then in the morning. That's funny. LOL! mikey
It's okay you forgot. Forget next week too.
reply by barkingdog on 04-Jul-2016
What did I forget? When? Where?
OMG! You think I'll do it again next week, too? Whatever it was ...
    Well, I'm off to ... I know it's something important ...
Damn, if it isn't burnin' or barkin' it'll just have to wait.

Hi Mikey

Well, each time I think you can do no more ... you come up with even MORE in that wonderful imagination of yours. Now I read this and mind seems kinda ordinary and boring. LOL What a turn, stuck with the hated wife ... though sound like she mightn't even get to have her share of the picnic ... under the circumstances, a man needs every morsel ... survival after all. Hahahaha! I'm laughing my head off ... best laid plans ... I hope you had a packet of cigs AND your lighter on you! A good time to give up I expect. Great work, a super laugh and tight writing all in form with Flash Fiction and perfect for the topic. Huge hugs for this one - Lovi xoxox PS I'm sending out search and rescue ... :)))

Love this one. I like the Gilligan's Island reference woven in. Very creative. Nineteen minutes? I amazed. This is a most enjoyable story, my friend~Debbie

Ah ha, this is a write your own ending kind of story. It's well done and I picture this guy looking like Donald Trump. lol. So...if I were to write the ending, I'd have a group of hungry female cannibal natives emerging from the jungle and eating him alive.

Just like Robinson Crusoe...there you are, presumably alone on your desert island. Who was the couple that took off in your yacht, I wonder? You've got lots of great lines in here - love the nephew, for example. The whole thing about stealing your car -vs- the lighter is wonderful!
I loved it, Mikey! This is fun :)

Don't know who they were. Some stranded couple lucky enough to escape thanks to him. LOL I left their story up to the reader.
Glad you enjoyed. I actually believe that about the car and the lighter. I get more mad at petty things. HAHAHA! mikey
reply by ciliverde on 04-Jul-2016
Yeah, stealing something as petty as a lighter is just plain mean - and crazy. I mean, you could BORROW the f-ing thing!

Trapped by the trap? Even from the dead she won? I liked the image of the couple rowing to the yacht. I liked that you had the motivation to Google all deserted islands. Why not just leave her there rather than kill her?....Wait...if the island was not on the map, why a couple rowing to boat? This is why you did not leave her. Now, trapped with a very funky smell....the poet seeks transportation. ..
Interesting story .

It isn't said how or why the other couple was there, but they're a stranded couple somehow and they took his boat and rescued themselves. Yep, it didn't work out for him. Yeah, he should've just left her there and sailed away. Smart. LOL mikey

LOL! Isn't that always the way? You just can't plan for every possible thing that might go wrong. Very good, and so fast, too! Impressive. :)
