Your notes answers the first question that popped into my head. Actually, the one question over two lines works for me. It's more substantial and opens up the narrative and the entertainment value in this tiny snippet. Your poem is relevant to all times. Recently, I read of a captain being tried for fleeing the sinking ship. Put in the context of the drmatic storm, the question is powerful and immediately stimulates the imagination of the reader. A fine idea, well rendered, Steve.

    Thanks, Mark.

I found it impossible to come up with anything meaningful when there had to be two questions, so I am following Warren Rodger's lead and sticking with one.

Was that the Italian captain of the passenger liner?

I think so. Memory's becoming a muddled quantity since I retired earlier this year.

Hi Steve,

At first I thought you'd cocked up with this one but NOWHERE does it say it has to be two questions so grammatically linking the 2nd and 3rd line as one (a la haiku) should be fine. More than that it is very clever and works very well in this finely written piece.

Good luck
G

Trust your pen. The adherence to form is right on the money. Evocative and powerful.made me think of the shipwreck in the original Greystoke movie. Cheers - DJ

A scary thought both literally and metaphorically.

Aren't you clever. You think outside the box. Wish I had thought of that along with everyone else. It makes the form so more pliable. Good chance of winning.

Thank you. Actually just following the example of Warren Rodgers who also wrote one like this. You are right, it opens up more possibilities.

You may be disqualified, but I have to say of the quinzaine poems of two questions, I have passed over a lot because they were either corny or made no sense. I like one questions applied.

    Thanks, Barb.

It is actually almost impossible to rite something sensible in the two-question format, so I am not surprised you have seen a few corny ones.

Warning! I don't know if every Contest Evaluation Committee consists of the same people, but they can be sticklers. I like your Quinzaine as it sort. of spoofs the notion the captain should go down with the ship.

This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.

    Thanks, Rod.

Actually the site contests don't go before the Compliance Committee. They do go straight to a judging committee, though, who a re possibly also sticklers - let's see!

This work has reached the exceptional level

It depends on the crew and what direction the wind blows. Was the captain all by himself or did the storm take him to a place unknown? Thank you for sharing

Perhaps the captain was never on board in the first place!

Thanks for the perceptive review and the six stars.
