This poem explores life as we live it here on earth and life with the promise of everlasting happiness in heaven. The components of life here on earth are our thoughts, words, and deeds that define our relationships in the complicated ways of life. The goal the poem sets is to use those thoughts, words, and deeds to reach the higher ground I assume is heaven.

I enjoyed reading your sonnet about the search for higher grounds. This is a nice theme and message for readers.
You have a good feel for iambic pentameter. There was one place where I think the meter got tangled:
- " 'Til we know the power of spoken word" - I'd be inclined to go with - un-TIL we KNOW the STRENGTH of SPO-ken WORD - you could use power, but with the hope readers pronounce it with one syllable.
No matter how many times I look, I can't find a turn in the third stanza that sonnet rules call for.
Good and sensible rhymes. Nice closing couplet that sums your message up nicely.
