I really like this poem JAYBIRD1. It touches me, because I know the impact
it has. I had a good friend, he was no veteran but a resistance fighter and nobody wanted to listen to his stories. I was born after WW II. The man needed a listening ear so I know a lot of WW II. With veterans it's the same I think. You have a message, because it might never happen again.
I'm Dutch, so sorry if there are mistakes in this review... Fia

They served well ... it is distinct and appropriate with a good clear sound in its voice. I remember hearing a commentator saying once when discussing thee terrible atomic strike stating one thing it did ... it ended the war.

What a beautiful poem to honor the memory of those who served in World War 2. I love your descriptions of all the different facets. I cannot imagine what it would be like to live during that time.

A very well-written heartfelt and thought-provoking poem about WWII for those who were there to experience the horrific events will never forget and hope to find peace before they go.

Oh if only. Such a shame we don't live in a perfect world with no wars, no poverty, no cruelty etc. A very good and well rhymed poem. Blessings. Jen

Excellent offering, Jay. I see this was originally posted in 2002? That would mean you must have been one of the first on the site , even earlier than I in 2004.

God bless you, Jaybrd enjoy your Easter, please?. Bob

This was a good write, Jaybird1. It had a good flow to it and the message contained in it was something we all should strive toward. Nice job of writing.

This is an awesome message, well-crafted. Your rhyme & rhythm are well done. Your message explaining WWII experience expresses ideas I hadn't heard before, making it original. I like the way you also dip slightly into the sad situation in the middle east, without going into detail, but your meaning is crystal clear about your wish for the future. I never thought about things from such a viewpoint, so it must be especially tough to watch things play out the way they do.
