This is a great tribute to WW2 veterans, Jay. If not for ALL of those men and women in the military, we would be living a completely different life. Your words flow well with good rhymes. However, your message is what stands out "Before we go."
Thanks for caring and sharing. Jan

I too prefer rhyming poetry, although do appreciate and dabble in the free verse form.
I enjoyed this, for it's fine structure and flow, and also for it's message. You've penned a piece of history, one that Reminds us of the ravages of war, and the sorrow it also leaves behind.
Before I go...I loved your poem and would've given a six if I still had one left. Fabulous job!

Wow, Jaybird,
I have wished, prayed and hoped all the same daily for our world. This was magnificent! I do not have a six, and I'm so sorry that it has to be my (Virtual six) But I did note something - it could be my laptop, but it appears there is a period before the word (.)Hope - you may want to look at that and possibly fix it. It may have been missed as this is a stunning (and I absolutely mean) stunning poem and tribute! Thank you so much for your service and for your patriotism. I champion all veterans and I am in awe of their lives. Cheers, Fonda

I cant imagine seeing and doing the things they had to do while they fought for our freedom. You did a great job with this and I hope they are all able to find peace

This is beautiful, my friend.
I wish your wishes could come true. I wish the world could be harmonious. And that all wars ended.
Maybe one day...
Thanks for sharing.

Somber words that also make for a very nice tribute to the Veterans of World War Two. My father fought in the Philippines during WW II. He died in 1962 at the age of 52. A lot of 2's there. Best wishes.

In my opinion, another perfect rhyming rhythm gem from this prolific rhyming wordsmith, but I have no more Six Stars to give - and this certainly deserves one - so fluid and even in rhyme and movement. Thank you for sharing, especially since this poet and I are of the same generation. I remember that war and our day to day rationing...
