Oh if only houses could talk I wonder what they world say giving their own point of view of how they see things and what they have heard or seen going through those doors.

Nice dedication to your home. Making your poem rhyme gets you extra credit. Thats why i like reading your poetry its simple succinct and no hidden messages.

This is a very fine piece of writing. It has a wonderful cadence and pace. Excellent verse and verbiage. Well done, Jaybird1. I was waiting for a metaphor, but it really is about a house. how refreshing! I wish you well in all your future endeavors.......................meeshu

I love this old old home weathered with time and dare I say love.
I'm sorry you have had to leave it as it sinks in the sand
Maybe it will get that helping hand and bring love and shelter to others
God bless

My house was built in 1885 and I have lived here 30 years and plan to stay as long as I can. It certainly is my home. I'm sorry you had to leave yours, my friend~Debbie

"This Old House" is an extremely well-written and delightfully descriptive piece. This talented poet's work was a pleasure to both read and review. You KEEP WRITING and I'll keep reading.

I enjoyed your poem.
You & the house grew old together.
The words paint a great picture of a proud old house that
has seen better days. Thanks for sharing. Jan

Houses that have stood the test of time with us truly do become homes, in every sense of the word, and it can be a great wrench when one eventually has to leave them. A sensitive poem and one filled with nostalgia.

What a beautiful one. you say the house is like a human.. better when it's aged..more knowledgeable.. Or like a vine.. more it stays, better the taste. Houses like that are very beautiful I imagine every single wall having millions of pictures.

This poem sounds very honest and admirable. The sentiments you attach with your home is clearly depicted here. True enough, a house that has endured it all, through times, is what makes it a home. Great work!
