Hi there,
Interesting dilemma you introduce in this short story. What would you do? Of course if the woman has the same scenario she, her child and the boy walk free as everyone else is dead. Not too much of a dilemma for her.
Good tension and concept.

That would be true. Thank you so much.

Hello Author,
This is chilling. Your protagonist is certainly not in an enviable position.
Well done! You certainly know how to make a reader think.
Good luck in the contest,
Lana

Thank you so much, it was a sad hard story to write.

Oh my God, this is very disturbing and I can't help but wonder what the motivation behind the story was.
At any rate, you did a good job with this writing challenge. Certainly grabs one's attention and holds it. Hugs, Lou

I was thinking how hard it was to make decisions in the nazi time.

Oh, wow, that adds another level of poignancy to this story.

A story with a startling question what would I do in such a situation and the answer was probably the same, not knowing what the end result might be. But what a chilling story with a chilling question to boot. A good story and I enjoyed it in some strange way as it did set me thinking.

I know what you mean. In many ways I hate this story. The cruelty it would involve would be overwhelming. There are hopeless moments in life, Luckily I believe in the world and love life, but there are no choice times.

Nicely done! Better to kill the a few than having to shoot your own daughter, but much like the title, it isn't much of a choice. I enjoyed this.
Take care,
Russell

Thank you so much. I worry about the woman after me in the story. She knows if she doesn't do it she and her daughter are for sure dead. They have shown her that. So will she hurt the other child for the possibility of saving her own? What a no choice.

I'm sitting here trying to recover from what I just read. Had no idea it would be a glimpse into that kind of world--wasn't prepared, but that's what makes a great story and as soon as my heart rate goes down, I'll be fine (pretty sure). I read all the time on fan story b/c I am not mobile anymore. Just changed your five stars to six.
Hope you approve!

What a wonderful review. Your comments really touched me. I hate that it is a sad story. What are our choices when evil gives us awful ones. I was talking to some one who is a wonderful person but has always kept her family history to herself because her grand father and grand mother were in Hitler's army . Her grand mother actually put the women on and off the train to the gas chambers. Does our morality change if we ourselves are threatened? Now I am rambling but you got me to thinking. Thank you for the six. It makes me keep writing.

Would you mind giving me your name or 'handle'. I need to keep track of who I give sixes to. Thanks.

Thank you so much. I hate this story. But I have always questioned how we react in bad situations. I knew I wouldn't kill either child if it was me, but what about the woman after me? She knows there is no way to win so maybe she can save her daughter. Why did my mind even go there? Thank you again. You are so supportive.
