A lovely and beutifully written poem about one of my favorite flowers and scents. Your poem captures all the loveliness of these gorgeous blooms. I buy lilac-scented candles all the time, but they never match the real intoxicating scent of the flowers.
Smiles,
Karyn :-)

Thank you Karyn, I am pleased you liked it. Nothing like the real thing, I just wish they lasted all year.

What a fascinating poetic form, it is most effective. Especially in describing a flower that I particularly like. I used to pass huge hedges of lilac on the campus where I went to college - such an amazing sight and scent!
Once again, I enjoyed your notes, especially the thought of lilacs flowering in Lebanon and Cyprus - the paschalia- how beautiful!

Hi TRIESCHEL,
this is a really nice poem and I love the format you have chosen, it gives it a sort of bouncy feel as you read it, very up-lifting.
I love lilacs they are so beautifully formed and smell wonderful.

The loops created by the repeated words roll the whole along concealing the odd excursions from regular meter to the poems overall advantage. I think there is a tendency on this site to regard meter as something sacrosanct, like chains binding writers restrictively. Rather than being a tool in the writer's kit. I came across an excellent website on the subject here:

Definitely worth a look.

This is like my thread in the frolicking forum... called, One thing leads to another. We've been doing this on my forum (another website) for the past 15 years... lots of fun! I would have loved to have seen it loop back around to the first as well. Great fun and great job. Yes, we love the lilacs!
Loved it, Tom!

As much as I like lilacs, I'm not too keen on this loop form. The repetition is rather intrusive and makes the whole poem sound a bit like a word association game! Nonetheless, a great celebration of one of the garden's most sweet-smelling bushes.

That is one complicated format and you sure handle it well. I will attempt it someday. All I can say is that I enjoyed it and thought the descriptions were '
beautiful.

Hi, Treischel,
"Lovely Spring Lilacs" is an exceptional poem. No moral here. Just total immersion in the beauty, fragrance, lushness and hope of spring beginning.
Beautiful figurative language; alliteration, metaphor, similes, that draw you into the mood of the poem. The meter is exemplary, the rhyme simple and excellent.
Your friend and colleague,
Preston
