I don't know about this. At my age, I hate the thought of giving up anything, and empathize with the old gentleman. Better a tractor
than a walker...excellent flash fiction...

Thank you. Yep, I agree. I'm 70 and I refuse to give up doing the things I love.

Although this is a story told in such few words, it does bring out the man's character very clearly. Stubborn; won't take no for an answer; and feels there are no limits to what he can do. If he always did it in the past, he certainly can do it now.
The story is quite realistically related.

Thank you. Us old folks hate to give up doing the things we love and have always done.

I had read this before now and love it as much as I did then, now, and always. It is a true pleasure to read your writings. Excellent.

I can totally relate to this - the "fear" of what could happen.
I can remember several times in my life (he was very late, no call, etc)
when I would conjure up worse case scenarios.

I'm glad (for both of us) our fears never came true :-)

Thank you. Yes, three years ago my husband went to feed the cattle in the morning. The bull got him because he couldn't move as fast as he used to. He was only bruised up, thank God, but it ended his cattle business.

I like the themes you explore and the language you use to do so. The structure is flawless by my eye. The content was amazing and I can't wait to see more of your work. Keep it up

The description you choose to add is what pulled me in "A tragic Farm Story" my dad is a farmer is maybe why hehe. That was a short little nicely written but sad poem :( at least he died doing what he loved, but sad he had to die! Good luck :)

Thank you. Farmers are often killed by farm machinery. Tractors do not forgive errors.

Very scary and much too accurate/believable. Great job of creating a complete story with only one hundred words! I don't see anything that needs to be corrected. Good luck in the contest!

Thank you. This is a quite common cause of death in farming country. Tractors are not forgiving of mistakes.

You're welcome. And you're so right. Seems like they should be able to make safer tractors by now.

Thank you. My husband should not drive anything. He insisted on going with me to pick our truck up from the auto repair. I held my breath every time he missed a mailbox by a couple of inches. He got the truck home in one piece, but it was scary.

This reminds me of a guy I know. He got run over by a tractor at age 83. It slowed him down but he is back up and moving but no more driving - tractors or cars.

Good 100 words story - good luck.

Thank you. My brother-in-law was killed at the age of 84 in an accident a little bit like this one. It was a tractor tht killed him but the circumstances were different.

Our brain doesn't need to recognize the changes in our agility. I'm glad this isn't biographical. Love the last line. That's the way to go. I hope to die eating chocolate cake. LOL

Thank you. I would like to die as my mother did. She was always in good health but she went to bed one night and never woke up. What a peaceful way to go.
