-Good image and poem.
-I think you have accomplished your goal well.
-I like the repeating lines and the use of enjambment.
-Good description of the poet's art.
-The last lines work really well:
"The poet's art, it seems to me,
is weaving words to change the world."

Your poem is very well written with a nice message, the poet writings can influence people who reads it. The words flow nicely, the rhyme is good. This looks like a good Triolet poem to me. Good luck with the contest.

Yes, changing the meaning of the repeating line, as you did here, is a great way to construct this type of poem. I noticed that Gynt did the same in his, if you haven't seen it. Oh, I'm a big fan of the word "furled" too - nice job! Excellent job on this; although I've seen quite a few entries for this contest - quite the competition!

Thanks, Caril. Yes, I have read and reviewed Gynt's piece, and given it six stars for that very reason.

Lovely, Steve. For sure, the pen is mightier than those other sharp pointy things. I like this format. I especially like how you split the sentence in the second line, but made it all one in the final line. Very clever.

No doubt a strong contender for the contest.

Hope you kick poetic butt!

Thanks, Av. Any research I have done on this form points to that being a key to the thing. let's hope the committee appreciates it.

In this poem you were able to say a lot in just a few words. Now that is art to me!
Triolet poetry is not an easy write but you did a very good job! Congratulations!

Words do more than any other single thing in this world, from good to bad and all points in between. They do unlock many mysteries, and sometimes share more than should ever be known. Great job, and good luck in the contest. :-)

You are right. The greatest pleasure I get from my writing is when a reader tells me it has really affected them, changed their life in some small way.

Steve,

I love it!! That's exactly how I feel about poetry, and my poetry. Word weaving... Well said. Good poetry can really affect people.

Your poetry is brilliant. You are my favorite poet on the site. I will never forget "Come, Woodsman" - the affect it had on me was astounding.

You rock, Steve!

Why don't you put in for a Seal of Quality? No one is more deserving of one.

Thank God for poets like you on FS. You make me believe is total perfection.

Ooh, I feel a big head coming on!

Yelena, thanks so much for the six stars and the words of praise. Seal of Quality? I'd have to do work, selecting suitable pieces putting together a 'book.' Maybe I'll get to it some time this year. I even have a title in mind, 'Life, Love, and Other Disasters.'

They don't need a large collection for poetry Seal. I submitted 11 sonnets (16 on the first try - the Seal committed got back to me very soon with many suggestions including weeding out some sonnets - my final count was 11 - and got the seal!

You have to have such a large selection in your portfolio ready for the Seal - no one is more deserving.

Thanks, Yelena. Yes, I know all about the Seal, and may well get around to collating something for submission this year - if I ever find the time.

At last! Someone else who has changed the meaning of that first line, not once but twice with enjambment and punctuation change. What an excellent adversary you make in this contest, Steve. This is very good indeed.

I like this very much. You are right, your use of punctuation did alter the meaning, and I enjoyed reading it through several times. Of course I love what it says about a poet as well. Your art work is very interesting and perfect for the work.
