Tom, I'm so moved by the description of this 'visit'.
It's both very emotional an so very well structured.
In fact, this time, I'd say the image is lessening the impact because it gives away the striking ending...
Without the image, one would start out reading this as a visit to someone who is still among us... and the cues would slowly give away the sad truth until it gets confirmed in the closing stanza...
This has an emotional impact of a slow letting go, almost a sort of disbelief...
Amazingly powerfully built poem, my friend!

I'm sorry for your loss!

You speak in this poem of visiting your mother's gravesite and telling her about your life and speaking to her from the heart. What is obvious to the reader but may not be obvious to you was that she was also speaking to you. Love does that. The quatrains work as a good way to organize your thoughts.

I wish that I were close enough to visit my mothers grave but alas I am several thousand miles away, nevertheless I enjoyed your poetic tribute to your Mother.

To visit a loved one's grave is thoughtful and brings back memories of years ago and you realize how much you miss the one who is not there anymore.

Very touching and lovely thoughts, beautifully presented in sincerity. The emotion passes through to the reader with soft but gripping energy. This made me think of my Mother of course and brought me gratitude for remembering all the wonderful gifts of love she gave me. sincere thanks!!! HIS GRAYNESS:

Yes - it can be a bittersweet time of happy memories, sprinkled with regrets. Sometimes, in life, we do not find that quiet time in which to communicate at a deeper level. "We had a quite (quiet) visit, as she listened to my thoughts,"

Such a beautiful picture accompanying such a lovely poem. This one really touched my heart as it made me think of my Dad, now passed 2 years. Indeed there are days it feels like it was only yesterdays...then others it seems nearly a decade since I've heard him laugh. This poem brought tears to my eyes. That is, in fact, what good poetry does. I'm sorry for your loss, no amount of time can heal the pain of losing half of who made you you, half of your foundation. Bless you both and I hope you were able to find solace in this conversation with your mom. I'm sure she's looking down smiling! xoLeslie

I enjoyed your poem, although it is sad.

Good job with the smooth flow and great rhyme. Your picture is perfect. This is a great presentation.

Thanks for sharing. Jan

[hard to read--my mother has been gone almost 17 years, and it still hurts].
