LOL - what a wonderful limerick for children (and grown-ups
alike) :-)
You definitely go ME to smile!
(I just went and checked - congrats on placing second :-)

A belated thank you! I just replied to your review today of my poem on the potty issue, and recognized your name as a reviewer of another recent piece. Not a lot of FanStorians care much for what I offer as humor, so I checked and found not only the review, but that I hadn't even responded to it! Even though you said the poem made you smile!
I apologize, Leineco. I'll try not to do that again. (I don't mean make you smile!).

I loved this witty poem. I enjoyed the humour of the rhymes ('Lemmemeow' and vow) and the onomatopoeic neologism with which the poem ends in inspired and creative. The meaning is clear and we hear the cat wailing. Well done and thanks for sharing this with us. Nigel.

Thank you so much for your excellent review, Nigel! I never thought of myself as a neologist!

I hate cats, so I read this with pleasure. I haven't read anything in limerick style for ages.
Nice ending.
I wonder if children would identify with standoffish and mistress though.
best wishes

Thanks for the review, fimarie. You're right about those words being too advanced for very young children, amused primarily by funny sights and sounds. When I write for youngsters, it's mainly for the seven and up, who have more highly developed senses of humor.
Thanks again for your input, fimarie.

I've been trying to get more into poetry this year. Even wrote a few. This is very cute. I love the picture too. It's rhythm is like a limerick. Very well done

Heidi, somehow, I neglected to thank you for your very kind review of my little cat poem. I really did appreciate it, but failed to follow through. Almost two weeks late, but thank you! And good luck with the poetry!

Haha - good play with words, Don. I've been a cat person all my life and they really have attitude. But, then, I wouldn't want a slobbering dog at my side. Hugs, Lou

This is an effective and entertaining limerick. The idea is an excellent one and the metre and structure are wonderfully observed. Thanks for sharing and good luck with the contest.

What a fun little poem! I love the picture you used and the title is perfect. It took me a minute to get the punch line (it's nearly 1:30 am and my mind is a bit foggy). Once I got it, I laughed out loud. Too funny!! Good luck in the contest!! xoLeslie

Leslie, telling me you actually laughed out loud is the best compliment you could give me!
(There's almost always a punch line, but often the reviewers don't notice the piece is supposed to be funny.) In appreciation of your critical acuity, you're getting my Nomination. Thanks!
