I loved this poem so much, the story telling was excellent, as was the rhyming, I felt the poem had lovely ebb and flow the pace was perfect, I really enjoyed it, this is an excellent entry and I wish you luck,

I love the way you tell this tale, and am amazed that it is solely from your imagination. You truly are a creative one, Tony! It is a captivating story and so beautifully told in flawless meter and rhyme. The author notes added so much information too... I loved learning all that!
One of the most visual and beautiful of your stanzas is this one:
"At dawn upon the keening wind,
A white-tailed eagle flew
And spied a glint of gold upon
The silver veil of dew."
Your skillful use of assonance is also very appealing. Excellent example: "so lithe, alive with dragonflies"
All of it though, is very strong and totally appealing. I won't be a bit surprised to see this entry among the winners.

'scree' - I like that word:) and great to rhyme it with 'mystery'.
This is kind of a fantasy story but told very well.
Lovely sound and visual imagery throughout. I especially like 'the silver veil of dew'.

Thanks very much for your six star award for this one, Pamela. Ideas for it have been buzzing around in my head for some time! I appreciate your suggestion, which is a good one. However, I 'm tied to the 'elfin mystery' by the rhyme scheme of the two shorter lines in each verse, a requirement of the ballad form.
