To mimic a style that is not your own can be difficult, you do it very well here, even down to the strange aberrations of rhyme scheme within the tercets, which suddenly change from aba to abb or aab as do those of Zaturenska herself. I can't help feeling uneasy with i,t having been taught that once a unity is established then it should be adhered to. But she's the one with the Pulitzer not me so I guess I just could be wrong on this one.

    Hi Pantygynt:

And that is precisely why I did it lol I wasn't actually comfortable with it either, but she did it first, so I followed suit. What did I read recently... it is either the form for a Rondel or Rondelet that does that change in rhyme scheme, as well...

Thanks for taking the time to read and review. I truly appreciate your insight and comments. Don't worry, I promise not to make a habit of changing up my rhyme schemes mid poem :)

:-) I can see the connection to Marya Zaturenska
style (I had to read your notes first because I was
not familiar with her and wanted to see an example
first).

This was a lovely reflection of your wedding day and
what it has lead to -

Congrats on your upcoming 21st! :-)

    Hi Leineco,

I discovered Marya Zaturenska in my reading. Since I've stayed fairly alphabetical in the book, I was thrilled to come up with a Z. :) Otherwise, I'd never have discovered that she won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry. I've learned a lot this month!

    Thanks for the lovely comments.

Kim,

What a great poem for your husband.

Your inspiration was super, too. Thanks for the author notes. Your lines had smooth flow and great rhyme like the inspiration poem in the notes.

I like the use of alliteration, too. The picture is awesome!

Good job and thanks for sharing. Jan

This is really a very cool poem and toast to your upcoming 21st wedding anniversary. I imagine you'll be reciting it to a large family gathering. Or perhaps a romantic even for two?

Either way it's a wonderful write and you captured a whole lotta love.

Great job!

Gloria

    Hi Gloria...

I think it will go into a book of poems for my husband. We are going on vacation at the end of May, so our Anniversary will be low-key at home, just the two of us, I think. :) Thank you for the lovely comments.

As I grow old with you.

Beautifully said, Kim... Congratulations on a happy marriage and Happy Anniversary (coming up) A very well written poem which shows a more personal side to your poetry, one which I love reading.

    Thanks, Cat! :)

I'm thinking of printing out the poems I've written him through the years and putting them in an album for our anniversary. We're going on vacation to Spokane to visit his family at the end of May, so I think we're just going to be low key at home for this one. Thank you for the wonderful comments.

Very nicely done.
A different type of poem but it expressed love all the way.
Nicley phrased and I wish you a happy anniversary.

    Thanks, Barb,
I was keeping with my theme and modeling a poem style used by Marya Zaturenska. I appreciate your lovely comments. :)
