Kim,
I enjoyed your poem. The artwork is beautiful and a great complement to your words. The words do illustrate what your notes spoke of. I, also, got a sense of the Irish language [accent, feeling etc] from your words.

He seemed like a complicated man trying to make sense of many 'things.'

Good job and thanks for sharing. Jan

Your posts in this series are rich with the originality of your own poems, the author biographies, and samples of the author's poetry. They are something to appreciate on both a creative and intellectual level, and it is good to see those things combined for a fuller poetic experience.

Great art work and a lovely poem. Yeats was a great poet and a great man, very generous, I am told. His poems had vivid imagination cemented with the natural world, as your poem demonstrates. Thanks for sharing the poem and the information on a great poet, Yeats.
Cheers, Kev

This is a very fine poem tribute to Yeats
You've done an admirable job in your poem
based upon Yeats poem, When You Are Old
the rhyme scheme is one I have used
I like the different feel it gives a poem
and you have used it very well
I think Yeats would be very happy with you poem
Thought true, he might have scoffed at the words
Poetic genius, Oh what a joy to have him
and many of the great poets of the past
Very nicely done

This is way over my head. I could not understand it, and I do not know what Yeats are. Because you are able to get me to not understand a poem, I rate you six stars because that is a tough skill to have. Good job!?

    Hi Joshmalin:

There are author notes with the poem to explain who Yeats was, an Irish poet who won the Pulitzer Prize for writing in 1923.

Thank you for taking the time to read and review. :) The elements in the poem are about his life.

A nice tribute to one of the greats! Thanks for sharing the notes and the video - a strangely non-Irish accent he has.

I liked the slightly unusual envelope rhyme scheme in your poem, and this:
Embrace descriptions - his Ireland, so green,
Where faery folk bewilder and beguile,
Of Innisfree, the picture perfect isle,
So vivid in the mind - though yet unseen.

Steve

    Hi Steve,

Thanks for taking the time to read and review. I adopted the style from one of his poems, which I posted with the author's notes. I appreciate the kind comments and you sharing the passage you most enjoyed.

    Hi Susanne,

We are doing a month long NaPoWriMo challenge to celebrate National Poetry Writing Month in April. That being said, it should be wrapping up at the end of this week. I've really enjoyed this challenge. The goal for the contest is to have thirty poems, representing one per day for the month of April. There are eighteen people involved in the challenge, with a couple who have been following along with us informally. I'm really pleased to say that everyone has kept up remarkably this month and we'll have added over 550 to the site once this challenge is over.

Thank you for taking an interest in reading more of my selections.

You are welcome and your challenge sounds difficult to me because I don't write everyday (I know...not good!). Am looking forward to reading more of your work. God bless and hugs, Susanne
