Oh, my dear Relda, I lost two precious friends to this cruel disease. My only comfort is that we will meet again on the other side. How my heart goes out to you. May God comfort and strengthen you both and help your faith.

The poem is lovely with a good rhyme scheme. Very touching.

Have a blessed week. Love,

Sonali

Sonali - Thank you for your review and especially for your encouragement. My Bud is a trooper and keeps me strong, but it is our friends who keep us moving forward. I am grateful for the FS family.

    God bless and my best,

This is a beautiful declaration of faith. I like how you begin with the soul searching, the fear and denial, and move into the confidence that the Lord will take care of it all.

The author notes are very informative. I hope Bud stays as well for many years and that a cure is found that will help him and others with ALS.

I will share your encouragement with Bud. He's been a little bummed out - May is national ALS awareness month (we learned that from the ALS support websites) and the media hasn't seemed to have picked up on it. We are sure there are many other diseases whose victims feel the same way - it helps when folks you talk to have a basic knowledge of what you are facing.

Anyway, we covet your good wishes.

    God bless and my best,

    Relda

Do not know how to rate this...So I read and reread. There is a message here in these writings...I am not associated with any religion and yet I hold fast to a belief in God. Again, I do believe there is a meaningful message in this posting and it is that faith does count and friends do care. I know you not but count me as a friend and may God hold you gently in his hands. Peace.
Also, some pretty good writing in the posting

Hi - I appreciate your efforts with my poem. It is rare that someone will reread and reconsider a poem. So, I thank you, so much, for your searching and attention to detail. Your insight about friends and faith is wonderful. Your offer of friendship is gratefully reciprocated. I'd be honored to be your friend. And your prayer and peace blessing are beautifully soothing.

    God bless and my best,

    Relda

Thank goodness you have faith, what a desolate life you would both have without it. I am truly sorry you are going through this, I often wonder why it is that God's true followers and believers suffer more than the evil beings that roam our streets. You have my prayers, and I hope that the cure for this does come long before you want to try those other trial drugs. I think you are both very brave and lovely people. Good luck in the contest and even more I hope a miracle comes your way. xsx Sandra

Sandra - thank you for your review and comments. And for your concern. It's God's grace I know, but Bud and I are doing well emotionally and mentally. Oh, there are times - like when a very noticeable reduction in capabilities happens that our outlook drops - but then we remember what our friends are going through and we are grateful. Of five couples, 6 have cancer. Puts things in perspective.

I appreciate you. I'll pass your posting along to Bud.

    God bless and my best,

This poem brought a tear to my eye and I am sorry for your pain. I thought this poem had a tender tone and was written from the heart. Good luck in the contest and thank you for sharing.

Yes, very inspiring and sad, but I guess your prating and faith is helping with that? This is a very dark poem to read, but all life isn't a party! Tony Bronk

It is a devastating disease. You told a tragic diagnosis about a man with a profound faith. I have never faced anything like that but I have faced some hard times and I wouldn't have gotten through them without God. Beautifully written poem. Gretchen

A powerful profession of faith in the face of adversity. A message of strength and will to live. Well written and phrased vividly. Best of luck to Bud.

Relda, this is a tough one for me to read. I so understand the tragedy and the need for faith--ALS was my original dx (a year later I was dx with PD). Hugs to you and Bud. Chris

Chris - I apologize for taking so long to thank you for the review and comments - Bud and I have been dealing with VA housing modification inspections. I am sorry about your PD - you're on my prayer list. I understand from Mayo that ALS and PD are similar in the way the brain motor-neurons are affected - I'm praying for a breakthrough on either side - thinking that knowledge in one will translate into knowledge on the other.. Thank you for your encouragement. It is much appreciated. I'll look in on your site soon to see what you are up to.

    God bless and my best,

Most will turn to God when they learn they have a degenerative disease. A few will allow themselves to become embittered. This is very well written.
