Kim,
First of all, let me say that I have read this 2 times now. I read it when first posted. Then let myself take it in. Today I reread it. Now I can respond better.

I really love your artwork--both perfect and fitting to Prince's untimely death.

Your use of the song titles [as the contest rules stipulate] is great. They fit in nicely and help create this great tribute. I believe the readers [and me] can feel the love you had for him as an artist and for his amazing songs.

Your lines flow well and keep the reader engaged from first to last word. I see no changes. This is a great tribute to an amazing artist.

Good job and thanks for sharing and caring. Jan

A challenging discography to tackle - and you've
done it both gracefully and with an obvious passion.

His was a spirit the music world was changed by
and a Legend long before he died.

Your tribute/eulogy was very moving.

Prince was a talented and prolific artisan who enthralled and entertained so many during his lifetime. I remember taking my daughter and her friend to see the movie "Purple Rain" which you have so eloquently elaborated on here. Well done. Marilyn

Thank you, Marilyn. I saw that my Senior year of high school. His talent was evident even back then. The world has lost an icon. Thanks for taking the time to read and comment.

I always thought I'd be much more sad and much more so at the loss of Robin Williams than anyone, but you know... it didn't surprise me when he died. And i never get too surprised when someone dies... death happens... all the time death happens. But this one, this one has taken me down. Not sure why.
I've never seen him in concert... indeed, never even tried to. But his music was a 'thing' with me... part of my recovery from my eating disorder. The biggest part of my acceptance of my body, I think. When I gained weight after having Skylar, it stayed on... stayed on for about four years. LOL And yeah, a size 10 isn't big for MOST women, in fact, most women would love to be a size ten... and at 5 foot 6, I can handle it... but for someone who had spent their entire life 'skinny'... it was a thing. I had been a cheerleader in high school, a dancer in college, an aerobics instructor after college... an inline skater... someone who had dedicated life to being active... once my thyroid kicked off, my balance kicked over, and I began to 'fall' for no reason... i stopped moving as much, because i'd likely just fall off a curb. LOL not very classy to just do that.
so yeah... i gained weight... but discovering Prince's dirty little songs... and discovering my libido at the same time as my bipolar mania... it was a 'thing'. I didn't eat, I didn't sleep, and I exercised... and all the while, Prince sang to me.

So yeah... it's an end to an era.
that was like a long walk off a short pier, wasn't it? LOL
at any rate... well done, Kim... and thanks for the share on FB... that video was amazing... it really looks awesome on my 60 inch TV. LOL ;)
hugs
C

    Hi Cat!

You will laugh... I remember us as teens playing and singing I will die 4 you... of course you have to act it out. I have pics of that somewhere lol. Thanks for the fantastic review. Thyroid... Grave's or Hashimoto's? I have Grave's.

    Thanks for sharing :)

    *hugs*

This one is outside my comfort zone but have you managed to get them all in? It is a very impressive list and it looks as though you may have. This is a fine valedictory to a great artist whose ability spanned a wide variety of genres.

    Hi Pantygynt!

He has hundreds, I think! So many albums. I only managed 44. Thanks for reviewing even though it was outside of your realm. You know I always have to try new ideas.

I don't even know what to say. It's my favorite song to sing from one of my favorite artists and one who influenced my music greatly. I could hear this so clearly from the first beautiful word so perfectly chosen to the last. I don't think anything ever got to me this overwhelmingly complete. The finest tribute I've ever read or experienced. I cannot thank you enough for this experience. You are awesome. mikey

A-h-h-h-h, but I see YOUR epic tribute of a poem to the artist formerly known as Prince hasn't dropped into the FanStory abyss of obscure writes, as mine has now, has it?
I suppose you've received a few more than just two six star ratings for this hefty, lengthy, yet well presented poem.
Too bad I'm all out.
Kudos to you, Kim.
Good luck to ya...

    Hi Dean!

I was getting worried because it wasn't getting any reviews when I first posted it... probably because it is a lengthy one. I just wanted to make a fitting tribute. Thank you for the nice compliments. Using the song titles made it an interesting project.
I appreciate you taking the time to read and review, I know it's a long one! :)

Hi there,

I thought this was a tremendous piece. very clever and well worked out. It made more sense than most of the pieces I have read on the site as well!

Great to get so many son titles in there and a great tribute.

I spent most of yesterday listening to his music on the I-pod. I had to have my ear-phones in as my daughter (she's almost 5)can't stand him. When she was a baby, every time his music came on she'd cry and scream!

    Excellent piece.

Hi there, What an excellent tribute you have painted in your lovely words. I will admit that although I knew of Prince, I didn't realise just how famous he was. This was really well done and I wish you good luck in the contest. All the best. Ulla:)

    Hi Ulla,

You are not alone in that, that's the second time I've had someone say they didn't realize how famous he was today. He really started to hit it big in the 80's when I was a teen, you just carry some of those things with you in life. :) I appreciate you taking the time to read and review. Thanks for the lovely comments.
