WOW! Mikey

I think the man would surely love this. What a tribute, so heartfelt and in such identity with the furore and passion of the Artist. Great title and presentation. I'm not in chat-vogue, so I will be brief. Far too young, and far too tortured in so many ways.

"did you want to be loud enough
so the sound would never stop
bright enough
so the light would never go out

you did that

you showed me
that the color of the rain
is
purple

and it falls
from my eyes"

Wonderful phrasing, excellent tribute with huge passion. Great work Hugs - Lovi xoxox

    Thanks so much, Lovi
This is moments after I heard, so, his inspiration really. I just wrote it down right out of my little brain. I'm pleased it hit you. Such a shock. Damn. He was too young.
A rocky journey for him, but, wow, what triumphs along the way.
    Hugs to you, mikey

This is a heartrendingly, beautiful tribute to Prince. One of the deepest purple tributes I read today. Aside from subject matter, I am drawn to your mournful, reflective voice. You ponder how he represented not only creativity of the highest order but uniqueness. You speak how he inspired the inner Artist in all of us. Thank you for sharing your poem. My eyes are raining purple tears right now, too.

Mikey, you capture his immensely passionate art so well! This is a wonderful tribute to this icon, who touched so many! I lived how you said:
"not the Prince of this
or the Prince of that

Just

Prince"

Yes, what a difference!
Beautiful poem!
Horrible news!

Gee, what beautiful words and lovely compliments. This is just what came out right after I heard the terrible news. It's just his inspiration and me writing it down. Thanks so much, mikey

Hello, Mike,

I am so sad, I can't believe, Prince is dead. We were born in the same year. It's weird to see his epitaph- 1958 to 2016, it makes me think what mine would look like but I am nothing like him. He was quite a star, so unique, there is no one else like Prince.

Your poem is so beautiful. You said it so well, artists know why doves cry and why there's purple rain.

Well done, my friend,

MariVal

Wow, that is just lovely. Yeah, girl, that says it all right there. He was too damn young to go. He was still writing and performing and doing it with high energy. Damn. Thanks for the kind words. Gypsy Comforting Queen of Phrases, mikey Sad little Irish Hug

Mr Cahill, this is absolutely, undeniably, one of the most emotive works I have read regarding this talented iconic figure. Tormented souls release polished spirits. The metamorphous of a gem unearthed from the pressure. Loved it.

Your fan Jimi

    Hi, Jimi
How beautifully put. This is what came out withing minutes of hearing the news. Damn. He was way too young with too much left to do. Hell, I feel young with too much to do. I guess it will be a while before I can sing Purple Rain in one piece. Thanks for the lovely words. They were very nice to hear. mikey

I've been sad all day. The cable news stations are telling his story. Even MTV is back to playing Prince music videos.
I felt your connection with spirit of the artist in your lovely tribute.
He will be missed, but his music and, hopefully his unreleased works, will go on.

    Hi there, Ellen
Jeesh. Such a drag. Yes, sad and a little angry. Man he was too young with plenty to write still. A lot left behind and I'm guessing a lot still to hear like you say. Thanks for sharing. mikey

A beautiful tribute to "Prince". He was way to young to leave us. Your well chosen words and purple presentation was perfect. Well done Michael.

Blessings

    Hi, Janet

Well said, Michael...I am so old now, but it seems like just yesterday I was a smokin' babe burning up the dance floor to this man's music. He and Jackson kept me in shape for years. I will never forget Prince. His music and the way it made me feel sexy. I'm glad you liked him too! Susan

You keep saying that. HAHAHA! Join me in the crazy deluded world of denial! Seriously though, Prince was special to me. I loved Purple Rain, hearing it and singing it. I guess it will be a long time before I can get through it in one piece now. He was major cool. mikey

I watched Purple Rain again last night...just can't get over this. His music was during my best times and it's like 'going back' and it makes me sad to be old. :/ I remember thinking back then 'what a talent'. But I was too busy having a good time to really appreciate him then.

I love that movie. Well, I don't like the way he treats the girl, but the MUSIC, I love especially Purple Rain. It's my favorite song to sing. I'm a fan of unique and he was that. Stop worrying about being old. Just ignore it and deny it. I'm not old, therefore you CAN'T be either. It's all math and stuff. :)) ~Dovey wrote a beautiful piece that will make you cry your eyes out if you haven't seen it already. Sound like fun? Mine is just a warm up. Thanks so much. I truly appreciate you sharing your feelings on this with me. It's pretty rough this one. mikey

Tell me the title of Dovey's post? I'll read it asap. Must go try to sleep before some damn plane or planes start roaring over again. Nice to talk to you Mikey.

So, kind of his inspiration really. He was one of us too. Yep, Christians can be mega cool too, like it isn't obvious. :)) mikey

I really wish I had a six left for this. The minute I saw doves in your title, I knew it was about Prince. I've been listening to news about him all day on the radio today (thank you KCRW, KPCC).
Perfect title for an artist who felt so deeply, who was not always popular, but who was always original and so talented. Your words do him justice here.
"Yeah
I knew what you
were trying to say
we all did" ...so we did.

I believe the world is feeling and remembering today. Thanks for writing this, Mikey...

They still haven't said what happens. Oh well, whatever, he was too young and too active and alive. I remember being so tickled when he changed his name to a symbol. LOL As a fellow artist I knew what he meant and it was a scream to see everyone have a fit over it! One of my favorites and I wrote this within minutes of finding out, so I'm glad you liked it. Thanks so much, Carol, your words mean a lot. mikey
