Hi, Craig,

I read through this acrostic too...

I love the use of Decomposing Composers for the acrostic of touching dead composers. I enjoyed the double play of decomposing. You have a nice mix of informative trivia about people of note (tee-he... people of note) and the witty sort of fun that doesn't make the reading names of famous people feel like work.

Nice job with this one too.
:D

Your title of decomposing composers is hilarious! I never thought of it that way, but I like it. It could have added so much more to my music history exam essays lol!

This is a fun acrostic, and I enjoyed it very much. Just a sprinkle of info on each composer. Some of them I'm not familiar with. I think Neidermeyer plays hockey in the NHL :)

Best wishes in the contest. I think you have a strong contender. It's a winner in my books!

LOL thanks Joy, for the lovely review. I am not expecting any amazing results from this one, but it was fun to play around with :)

NHL? That could make for an interesting conversation - "I play harpsichord, what do you play?" "Left wing."

    Much appreciated - Craig

Craig,

Where ever did you get this brilliant idea for an acrostic?
"Strauss had a wife and he kissed her" LOL
I'll have to take your word for it on the rest of them?

Your end line is creative too with the use of "scores"
Pity there was no 'B' in there for Bach and Ludwig van Beethoven.
At least you have Mozart in there...I visited his birth place in
Salzburg, Austria.

Your presentation is impressive in itself.

Linda

    Hi Linda,

Monty Python wrote a song many years ago called The Decomposing Composers - so my title isn't very original, unfortunately. That said, there is little in common otherwise - for one, their song is funny, with lines such as:
"You can still hear Beethoven, but Beethoven cannot hear you" (they were allowed to use Bs!).
Thanks for the lovely review, and thanks for picking up the little play on the word "scores" :)

    Much appreciated,

    Craig

CD Richards, this is a fine entry for the Acrostic Poetry Contest. You either like your classical composers or you have done a lot of research my friend. I enjoyed this poem for its informative and playful nature. An excellent job at listing them neatly into an acrostic poem. Bravo and best of luck in the competition. ~DD

Thanks very much, DD. I did study classical music in school, but I have to admit, 4 starting with O had me diving for Google! I really appreciate the kind review. Craig

Very funny, and well thought out Arcrostic Poem. Loved it. You are obviously familiar with classical music, or a good researcher. Good luck in the contest and warmest regards, Marijke :o)

HI Craig

This works so well and is quite impressive. Clever title and you've executed these composers with fun. Fab presentation. I've learned the names of a few composers I had not heard of before. You're either very musical or a great researcher. Somehow you've managed to make all this poetic which is amazing. Well done and superb practice for the Potlatch. I wish you the best of luck in the contest. Acrostics often can be quite stilted to me, this one really works. Well done.. Hugs - Lovi xoxo

    Hi Lovinia,

I knew most of them, though I have to admit four Os stretched me beyond my capacity lol

Thanks for the great review :)

    See you in the potlatch!

I could have put a composer for the last, but I figured it needed a finish ;-)

Thanks Cat, I'm not anticipating anything, just a bit of fun.

Your encouragement is most gratefully received, as always :)

Hi Craig!

This one is really clever! I didn't know that you knew that many composers... but I'm sure at your age, you've met them all ;) (what intimate details you've shared lol)

All kidding aside, this is a great piece. I find all your lines to be in harmony and your letters to be written in good measure.

Wishing you all the best of luck in the contest! (Yes, I verified this time!)

*hugs*

Kim

LOL thanks Kim. I used to listen to a fair bit of classical music - of course that was before I discovered Matchbox Boys and One Dimension :)

Yes, I can just imagine you and Beethoven singing, "We've got the Beat," long before the Go-Go's came along and covered your song ;)

And each and every last one of these composers is decomposing and rotting in the ground.
Ashes to ashes, and all that...

NOW can I say best of luck to you in the contest, Craig?
Yes??
okay, then...best of luck to you in the contest.
Well done...

~Dean :)
