Hello Ulla,
It's an interesting piece of Flash Fiction meeting the desired norms and beautifully depicting its theme.
Smooth and captivating flow from the beginning to the end carrying the story forward in waves-like manner, up-down-up ...
Some paragraphs displaying pathetic scenes are worth noting.
'I' in the 2nd line can be avoided. I think so.

This is a sad story but a true one for many people. It is well written and I didn't see any errors. My mother lived for 15 years after my father's death and there wasn't a day that she didn't miss him.

The description and structure makes this a desperately sad but also a very entertaining read. The description build up slowly as we begin to gain a sense of place and character. The climax of the story is revealed in an understated manner which allows the reader to bring their own emotions to the piece. Thanks for sharing.

Ulla, this has to be one of the most beautiful stories I have ever read on this site or any other. It has everything a wonderful piece of writing should have, IMHO, and it's flawless. I want you to know just how much I thought of this beautiful story - I seldom visit the voting booth unless I have an entry in that contest. I am always lagging behind in my reviewing and my replies and simply can't afford the time to read all the entries, which I feel we must in order to cast a vote. I voted for this story, Ulla. I can't see how it isn't leading the vote - honestly!!!

I've reviewed several Found fictions,all excellent. The only minor change I see that I'd make to yours is:

You turned to me and I remember your anguished voice.

"Why, please do tell me why?" And I had no answer.

I would say:
You turned to me and I remember your anguished voice. "Why, please tell me why?"

I had no answer.

This is no big thing...excellent flash fiction.

What a beautifully written story this is. It kept my attention throughout and in a short but dignified way described an entire life with the ups and downs that seem to happen even to the most fortunate families. Actually, every family is fortunate, at least in my opinion. Whatever book you write will be awesome.
