So much grief piled on one woman is a lot for anyone to handle. It's good that your faith has seen you through so many tragic events.
Your post is very well written and easy to read.
Thank you for sharing.

make any decisions. I got up to (you could combine these two sentences with 'so' if you wanted to. So this (hopefully) isn't referring to something that really happened?
I posted an incredible true story on here just the other day called "Hey Mom, Mom." Someone called me and it wasn't until AFTER I posted it online that I found out who!!

This was such a riveting and sorrowful read, I can't even imagine living it as you and your family did. Absolutely heartbreaking and I offer my sincere sympathies on the loss of your grandson, and on all you have and are dealing with. Life is hard to understand. Sometimes, understanding God is even harder. Blessings to you and yours.

You wrote with emotion that was palpable for any human being. The connection to your saved bird and God's message of hope was astounding.

It sounds like a true story. I like how the problem of evil is expressed in this piece, which may shake one's faith but really shouldn't when considering the greater good behind it. This piece portrays reality powerfully and those who have experienced loss can certainly relate to it. Some indents could help improve the transition of scenes.

Hello LoannaLois,

This is beautifully written. Description is very good, dialogue is believable, characterization is solid. Pace is very good also.

I like the small details you insert into the story such as pulling over, calling and then cancelling the cab. They fill the story out and make it much more relatable for the reader.

Thanks for sharing, and good luck in the contest,
Lana

Wow. Loanna,

This was a powerful and intense write almost from the first sentence. I was sucked in and held there. But is this fiction or non-fiction? It READS like fact and reality - so if it's fiction, KUDOS~!

Only one suggestion -- that you combine some of those paragraphs. Good luck in the contest!

Death is so final. Sometimes we welcome it, most times we try to push it away, but still it invades our very body and soul, and in most times God gets the blame every time regardless if is deserved or not. Regards Mabaker

Hi Loannalois:

Losses of loved ones are always hard to handle, especially gracefully. I think you did a good job telling your story. I found this part to be a strong point in your story, good imagery:

My coffee had turned as cold as my heart. I stepped out onto the patio and heard someone screaming. Then I realized it was me. My anger and pain were at a fever pitch.

Good luck in the contest.

Kim

That was tragic yet lovely story about losing or almost losing our faith in life and God. The dove image is beautiful and I was glad you were able to find that beautiful picture to illustrate it
