You have certainly created a new image for spring here, your son, Matthew. What intrigues me is the appearance of the robin as a harbinger of spring. Back here in the UK the robin is a winter bird perching on spades in Christmas cards with snow all around. For you it seems he waits for the spring.

Happy Birthday, Matthew!
The love and pride in your son overflow through your words. Children, no matter what age, have that ability to make a parent just burst with joy.
I like the contrast of snow at birth that a spring robin when you brought him home.
There is a sweet welcoming feel to your poem. I enjoyed it.

Thank you , some poems aren't written to win contests they are just written because we want to share what we love. Matthew is wonderful Thank you for your kind words.

Oh, Judy, this is just brimming over with love - what a lovely poem! I can so easily visualize that gentle snowfall, feel the crisp, cool air, and see the robin on the porch, but even better is the wonderful feeling evoked by this: "I saw his eyes and deep within my spirit joined with his..." Beautiful!
I do have one suggestion, though it has nothing at all to do with the wonderful writing - the text colour is so hard to see - I would suggest a darker blue for the background, larger font size, and bolded. (Use "advanced".)

Special gifts have a habit of growing more special as the years go by. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very good read.

Wow! He's a looker. I see kindness is his eyes. I like how you connected his arrival with nature and the sight of spring at last.

Spring is the time for birth and renewal and you joined the rest of nature celebrating new life with your son Matthew, how appropriate. Your story is well told in verse including the snow that had melted by the time you came home and the robin welcoming new life.
