This was an extremely well written, beautiful piece of poetry. I saw no errors, no mistakes. Nothing at all that I would change. I absolutely LOVE the image used with this piece! I like how you kept using her name but made it FIT-- instead of just throwing it in for it to just be there.

    Hi DMB,

I was just having a bit of fun. Hardy was a great poet, but tended toward darker themes. I thought I'd lighten it up a bit :) Thank you for the great review.

This was a clever work and enjoyable to read with the familiar repeating line. I liked the lovely presentation and the well written lines portraying this rather scandalous date.

Hi,

You have included a very thorough set of author's notes here. I would rather have hoped that on a writer's site, many would certainly know of Hardy and his writings. At Uni I had to study Madding Crowd, Tess, and Jude. I certainly didn't appreciate it at the time!

Writers seemed to live much more colourful lives back then. of course nowadays it would be splashed all over social media.

You did a great job with this, mirroring the poem itself but making it yours with commentary and subject matter.

All the best
G

    Hi G-Man,
I actually never had to 'study' Hardy, but enjoyed my little bit of research. I'm featuring a different Poet or style each day of April for the NaPoWriMo challenge, my Poet's Party, if you will. I just thought I'd have a bit of fun with this one. Thank you for taking the time to read and comment.

Another great piece and the history to go with it.
Loved the replication of the piece and you copied the form spot on.
Easy to read and the rhymes yo used made it fun

Thank you for the copious notes including the transcript of the original Amabel. This was not on of his poems with which I was familiar so it save me having to look it up. I always thought that he made a better novelist than a poet actually though hge was certainly more prolific than most.

The modern film and TV producers seem to like getting their hands on his work. Of the Victorian novelists his are the only novels I have ever been ablde to get through without throwinig the book at the wall before the half way mark.

I like your take on Amabel though she probably would go for the tatoo I think.

    Hi Pantygynt:

I liked the poem, "Amabel," it is in a book of poetry my husband gave me for Christmas a few years back. So, when I was researching, and couldn't find any references to who she might be, I was inspired to just make something up lol every party has a source of gossip and a blonde bombshell, right? ;) Just a bit of fun on my part. I'm glad you liked it, I'm not sure Thomas Hardy would lol

Thanks for leaving your great thoughts :)

A very well-written poem and interesting history on Thomas Hardy. There are many men that prefer the much younger woman, and vice versa.
