This story was nicely written and illustrated. I can imagine how you all must have felt. Animals do bond with people. There are numerous stories involving dogs. Not so many with cats and other animals though. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you for your kind review and the five stars. I didn't realize that cats could grieve as Iggy did. She disn't even eat good for over two weeks. She watched for the bus for a long time.

Thank you. This happened in 1985. I hope Roy and Iggy found each other on the other side.

This is a heartbreaking story. The emotion that you pull from the reader in such a short piece is huge. I think you did a great job at pulling on the readers heartstrings. I am sorry for the pain you must still be feeling at loosing a son. I pray that you will find healing as time passes. Thank you for sharing your story

Thank you. This happened in 1985 but I still grieve for my son today. One never gets over the loss of a child.

The use of the word 'sadly' seems to make this more powerful by understating the devastating loss your family must have felt. I found myself feeling Iggy's loss as he waited for your son's return. A very strong contender for a difficult challenge. Kindest regards to you and yours xx

Thank you, Helen. We were all devastated by the loss of my son. Iggy grieved just as much as we did. She moped around for weeks Roy's death.

Beautiful description in the sixty words you had. What a loss, and I can picture the kitty waiting and waiting. I hope you are doing ok. I fear that you are still sad and lonely for him. That is ok. He is too important a memory to get over quickly.

I award six stars for the courage it took to share this story with us readers. So sad a tale it is. The memories of Roy will last a lifetime and I hope they bring a smile to your face for the time you were able to enjoy your son.

May Gob bless, John

We lost our first born, 45 minutes after birth in 1981. For 35 years now, we continue to see her at her grave on her birthday and Christmas. I'm with you my friend. John
