A sad topic to write on but it speaks a warning, an awareness that we of this magnificent planet should take heed and understand the significance of its devastation
I loves this poem and its structural layout thanks for sharing with us .

This is just terrific. I love how specific it is and the intimate interactions involved. It serves to underscore in a dramatic way the interconnectedness of all of nature of which unfortunately mankind is a part of. Each insult we inflict has a ripple effect and by now it's one huge endless serious of rings enveloping the Earth. How to fix? I don't know. It sure seems daunting. A great project. An honor to serve with you. Super job. mikey

    Yes, michaelcahill, "Each insult we inflict has a ripple effect and by now it's one huge endless series of rings enveloping the Earth." Reviewers in Canada, Spain, England, and throughout America have reported that their trees are dying because of these fungus borne bark beetles. I do not know how to fix this and it sure seems daunting. I am glad you love how my poem is specific and intimate. Thank you for your review. It is an honor to serve with you on this project, too.

What a horrific consequence! The picture you have attached left my mouth agape!! I come from upstate New York - in the Catskills. The thought of going "home" and finding my beloved hillsides brown instead of their signature evergreen will give me nightmares.

Dutch Elm disease was also the work of bark beetle fungi (though I don't recall any blue coloration being involved).

Your closing lines
...you wonder if anyone will be left
to build you a blue coffin

was so prophetic and frightening!

Will this be mankind's eventual demise? Death by lack of resources????
Like the dinosaurs that reigned before us, will we succumb to a befouled and deadened environment? And will it be mankind's doing. . .not a comet's?

Excellent addition to the book Sis Cat!

    Yes, Leineco, the consequences are horrific. Reviewers have written to me from Canada, England, Spain, Arizona, and Nebraska to report that their trees are dying from these fungus-carrying bark beetles. I do not know how this will end but the blue coffin is "so prophetic and frightening!" Thank you for your review.

A very enlightening poem on the plight of our trees. I can sense the passion for nature as you wrote this. Your poem speaks volumes for climate change and I felt quite sad about the trees reading it. Very good writing when you evoke strong emotions from the reader.

Your poem on the havoc caused by climatic changes is as saddening as the author notes are informative. Instead of fighting the crisis on a war footing, it is a mockery of human ingenuity to talk of recycling the dead wood trees for making ironically blue coffins.

    Yes, scd41, I am shocked that people are profiting from these dead trees instead of thinking of ways to stop trees from fighting. Reviewers in Arizona, Nebraska, Alberta, Canada, and England have all reported that their trees are dying or dead because of these bark beetles. This is a global problem that deserves " fighting the crisis on a war footing." Thank you for your review.

Well I hope I don't find these on my evergreens, in the city and sure have a lot here, and in a place I have out in the country. Though, I live in central and, too, northern Illinois. Still need to check to make sure.
Thanks, so much for your informative, and striking presentation about really what it boils down what is killing these forest trees and other places, the blue larvae..I sure wish the US government and Canada will come up with a solution soon, before all these beautiful trees all die, and have to be used for blue caskets, instead.

Thanks for Sharing, and God Bless...Caressa_08

    Caressa, last year authorities in your State of Illinois gave up battling the emerald ash borer which is killing the ash trees in your state. Here is an article: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-emerald-ash-borer-quarantine-lifted-met-20151021-story.html
    Reviewers in Canada, England, Spain, Nebraska, and Arizona report that beetles and their fungus are killing their trees. I am glad you found my poem informative. Thank you for your review.

    Thanks so much for your kind reply...Yes, Illinois is cutting so many programs, because they owe so much money and have been corrupt for so long....With one governor just got out of prison & a recent one, still in there * past histories of mismanagement...Now, unfortunately I see from your reply, they are eliminating their effort to curb this the ash tree from dying off from this insect infestastion...It doesn't surprise me.

    I think you might of got my reply, I accidentally sent it before I could spell check on it, that is, if you got it...
    Anyways..Well yes, Illinois is just one of those poor states, though I think my evergreens are not in so bad shape,,,And the poor ash tree population need some biologists, etc to really find a cure for this terrible disease, possible in another state,,cause IL wouldn't have any money to pay one, at present.

You pen your stanza-by -stanza slow development of your poem up to the last stanza which strikes like a fist in the gut:

And you think of the dead trees
to be recycled this way;
and of the customers on this planet;
and you wonder if anyone will be left
to build you a blue coffin.

This is a powerful poem, Andre!

    Yes, Jay, I employed a stanza-by-stanza slow development "which strikes like a fist in the gut" in the last stanza. Some reviewers wanted me to accelerate my poem and cut repetition, but I refused. Thanks for your generous, six star review of my "powerful poem."

It's true that the warming world is creating bad conditions for the survival of plant life which in turn will affect the survival of animal species and ultimate disaster for our planet. Nicely scribed, great artwork, articulate revelatory narrative, and so well compiled, well done, Blessings, Roy
